Well, since everyone is asking...

"Avatar: the Last Airbender" is a new adventure toon on Nickelodeon. It's about a yong boy who gets trapped in an iceberg and wakes up 100 years later to find out that the world he new has been at war for the last century. There are four nations/tribes which each match up with the four elements: the Fire Nation, the Water Tribe, the Earth Country and the Air Nomads. Each nation is know for it's particular "bending" techniques, which are a combination of martial arts and magic. The boy, Aang, is the last of the Air nomads, because they've all been killed off by the Fire Nation. As you might have guessed, the Fire dudes are the bad guys, and are on the verge of taking over after the century-long war.

The interesting thing is that Aang also happens to be the Avatar: an individual who can control all four elements. I already is a master at Airbending, and needs to learn the other three so that he can stop the war and thus save the world, as is his destiny. He is accompanied by Katara, a young Waterbender, and her brother Sokka, who has no bending skills but is good with weapons. Of course there are cute mascots, including Aang's six-legged flying bison (this thing is HUGE) named Aapa, and a flying lemur named Momo. They all travel the world, trying to reach the north pole where there is another Water Tribe, so that Katara and Aang can learn waterbending from a master that they assume is also there. On the way, they are pursued by Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation who's sole mission is to find the Avatar and bring him in (or possibly kill him) so that he can have his place on the throne restored (i think he got kicked out because he challenged his father to a duel; he got his ass kicked and his face burnt).

Anyway it's a great show! Friday nights at 8 and replayed saturday morning at 11 (i think). Go watch it! The creators seem to have watched a lot of anime and hong kong action films because there's a lot of that kind of staging going on, but not in the cheesy way like Teen Titans. They set out to make a well done show and they've succeeded. So check it out!
