If you friend request me without sending me a message tell me why, you will be denied. I'm not anyone the least bit influential around here, and you don't NEED to know me. If you are a hopeful or a new SG. and you're trying to add to your f-list so that more people will know about your latest set so they can vote on it, you are lame. Seriously. And you're barking up the wrong tree with me. If you're trying to get more comments on your set, maybe you need to shoot a better set.
Or if you REALLY want people to vote on your set, then you should actually BE friendly to them, contribute in group and board threads with some substantial insight. If the thread is nerdy or funny then go in with something that adds to the funny or shows off your nerdiness, but just randomly friend requesting people you don't know is the stupidest thing ever. it's been said any times in during my tenure as a member on this site, but SG is becoming like some kind of high school popularity contest. And frankly that's dumb.
First off there are like two-fucking THOUSAND SG's, just to put things in perspective, so you aren't that special. When you've been around here long enough to have like 8 plus sets, or if you're new and had four sets accepted in like a year, then i'll be thoroughly flattered that you requested me, but i'll still want to know the fuck why. If you've only had one set accepted (or none) but we had a thread convo, or you liked a comment i made, or you read my blog entries and thought they were interesting, or you saw some of my art somewhere, or you're "interested in my ideas and would like subscribe to my newsletter," or you're just new to the site and want to meet people, that's fucking fine, but GIVE ME A REASON!
