Hmm... new set's causing a lot of controversy around here. Understandably so. I didn't really look at the set until after some noise had been made; Nana's not terribly attractive to me and even though i have a thing for Lolita-esque things, her look doesn't float my boat. So then i looked at the set in sequence and i just kinda went "......eeeeewwwwww....."

Rape fantasies are one thing (If it was a personal photoset and feeds into a fantasy she has, then that's fine, and she can keep it to herself), and this could have been made cute, like if it was made into a damsel in distress/seduction scenario, and she used her looks to get out of the situation, or to turn the tables in some way (a la Manko's capture theme in Rich Bitch 2). But the sequence plays out to be straight-up rape, and that's not sexy at all. Plus, as we're all seeing, besides being unsexy, it's really pissing a lot of people because, by association to this site is being played as "redefining beauty" and while strictly literally it can be said to do that, since when is rape "beautiful?"

It goes without saying that rape is not cool or sexy, and making a photoset out of it without any subtext or without it making some kind of artistic statement (obvious or explained) doesn't make it even palatable to most. It's not "hip" and it's definitely not empowering, which is what i thought this was supposed to be about (though to be honest, that was more of a bonus for me; i just wanted to see something different).

I don't comment about sets her because generally there isn't much to be commented about other than the models' looks or the sets' technical merits if there's anything that stands out. But this... well, i wondered where "the line" was, and i'd say that with all of the implications involved, this crossed it. It's not a reason for me to dump the site (got plenty of others reasons to do that), but i'd really have to wonder about where the staff's priorities lie if something's not done.
