so. i've given you plenty of time. now cough it up...let me hear those new year resolutions. or thoughts. or grand plans that you secretely know you will NEVER act upon. or secrets that you will grandly act upon. or whatever motivated you to get out of bed this morning.
as for me, well. well well well. i have a few intentions up my sleeve. a lot to do with lasooing my own grand schemes and pulling them down out of the ethereal sphere, holding on tight to the rope when they enter our atmosphere and go through the painful process of becoming material. i have a picture that someone drew for me outside my bedroom door that says in bold red crayon, "Mary Has Many Good Ideas". the trick for me tho, is to turn them into more than mental twiddles.
along with that, is this hopeful loose grip i am perfecting...keeping my eye on the ball, but not having any expectations of what that ball may end up looking like.
but the biggest, and sweetest intention to my heart, is to remember, every day, a line from a 'flaming lips' song that a dear friend put on a mixed cd for me..
"do you realize...that everyone....you know....someday....will die."
not at all morbid. but a potent reminder, to let the impermanence and preciousness of our situation be my guide. i want to make all those around me feel cherished and special, and i want to have the peace of mind to be absolutely appreciative of each moment and each heart.
