With her dark hair and two cool pools of eyes that flash twin smiles, I just may be able to wait through the long ticking hours of the clock that rotate around me.
now, don't get me wrong- i loved 'steal my sunshine,' too. it's was such a cute, happy-go-lucky song, and the video looked so warm and happy and sunshiney. plus, they sampled 'more, more, more,' one of my favorite disco songs.
you really should listen to the rest of the album, especially since one of the songs, 'junebug' reminds me a little of stereolab. just a LITTLE- i'm not comparing the two, but perhaps the song was inspired by that same type of dreamy euro-pop...it also reminds me a little of kittycraft. the first song i heard by them was 'cryptic souls crew,' and old school hip-hop stylee song, which i love.
so, dust it off and take a listen, only this time 'clean out your ears and open your eyes'- a line from 'cryptic souls crew,' but it was also taken from the song 'jam on it, ' by newcleus.
i wish they were my own words man.... thats a song from pushmonkey called "cut the cord".... one that i didnt really like at first but has grown on me... yeah go palanhiuk or however you spell it... im too lazy to go grab my copy of fight club and check....
Saw Blonde Redhead tonight. I've been wanting to see them forever, and I finally got the chance. What an amazing band. They were at the Scene, which I've never been to before, it's this weird club in SD inside of a strip mall behind an office building. You would never even know there was a club there. It's very secretive. Anyway, that is all. Both... Read More
Sounds like a night! That is my own writing and it is dedicated to a dear friend of mine. I just had a wild stereolab session composed of "Dots and Loops" and "Sound-Dust". I had forgotten how incredible the ending of "Refractions in the Plastic Pulse" is. What a fine, fine group they are.
Lonely town, lonely night. A cool breeze off the bay. I know it's a small scene around here, incestuous even...I feel like I'm slowly dipping a toe with caution into a kiddie pool full of playground hipsters. It's too shallow to drown, at least, but not big enough to avoid making waves...SD, I'm back. Is there enough room for me?
well, yeah you have to spell it out! this is the internet, remember, where sarcasm, inuendos, hints, etc. can be misinterpreted more often than when you talk to someone face to face.
who knows? you could have just been telling me about some hot chick you met on the internet that you were exited about!
i'm happy to be your cybercrush, though, that makes me very happy
The iced tea sweats dewdrops in long clean lines while crackling ice settles within. I stare at the frosty white sheet of cheap lined paper lying flat on the table before me, pen poised to write it all down, everything. But my hand won't move to make any words. It's as marble still as a statue. The silence softly nets over me like a coccoon,... Read More
heh- sun ra, eh? now, i happen to love the guy (who wouldn't?), and under normal circumstances i would be happy to play a little, but it isn't technically my show. it's someone else's and he's just letting dj half of it. he doesn't care for that kind of jazz, and it would kind of clash with the feel of the rest of the show, you know? also, since i am only doing half of it (i.e. an hour and a half), time restraints force me to choose shorter songs in order for me to make the most of it!
p.s. nice attempt at sublimin-able (bush sic) messages! you don't want that beach towel- it's been used often, and is pretty beat up. besides that, being a stereolab fan myself, there's no way in hell i'm gonna give it to you! got it?!
It was a wickedly hot day here inland from the coast. The ants are swarming like a black mass and the police sirens are wailing in the breeze like wraithful banshees. It's going to be a long sticky night. I can smell that honeysuckle blooming outside my window again, more ripe than ever. It reminds me of her.
oh, and i totally agree with you: ultra-leftists are often even more pretentious than the ultra-rich conservative republicans that they're fighting against! the difference is is that the former can never admit that they're elitist snobs!
Sorry to hear about your sick weekend. I too am a bit dissapointed in the lack of support for the Stereolab thread. No, I have not seen them. I really want to see them. In fact, I think they may have once done a tour with Tortoise. That would have been a heck of a show. I will have to catch them next time they hit NYC.
I see you like Hornby. Did you read High Fidelity? And if so, what did you think?
