If you have visited my Photography website you will know that I have been shooting roadside memorials for the last year and a half. Its been a wonderful project, moving, and giving me insight into an ignored element in our culture.
I have a few ideas for my next project. Here is one idea. I want to photograph hookers, street walkers, the kind that are strolling on the sordid sides of town. The type that look abused and torn to pieces mentally. They are a group of society's outcasts. No doubt many of them were driven to that state because of abuse by dad's and husbands, or because of extreme poverty. While of course others are there due to addictions.
They appear to me like fallen angels. Fragile to begin with, they were crushed and shattered by Society's various circumstances and they were unable to push back.
I want to photograph these women in their element in black and white. I know this has already been done before but I want to add an element that will make people see them as I do - as a sort of Fallen Angel.
I am going to buy a pair of high quality costume wings and photograph these prostitutes wearing them on the streets.
At times in the pictures the wings will seem out of place, cheap and gaudy; but I believe that these elements will only add to the lief they live: cheap and base, a sort of outcast side show for onlookers to gawk and condemn, but a sense of the angelic nontheless.
