hahah my english teacher actually gave me the "cynical bastard" tag. Me and another guy in the newspaper class that is, after we skewered our school newspaper with a scathing review in class. We basically said this one issue sucked, including the stuff we had wrote for it as well. He said we were both cynical bastards. We reveled in it.

It stands up well on it's own but of course I urge you to do the tv marathon. It's funny, when it was on fox on friday nights I watched it sometimes. I thought it was "ok" but it wasn't must see tv. Just something to watch if I wasn't doing anything and I only saw 2-3 episodes. It wasn't until I was wandering around best buy looking for something to entertain myself with that I picked up the complete season. Then it hooked me, hard. I've talked to other people that didn't get hooked at first but did later. I think it's a show that grows on you. The characters are good and there's a strong libertarian theme running under the surface as well as other deep themes. It's very character driven in a sci-fi setting, with a more realistic view of the future (IMO) than most other sci-fi movies/shows. For reasons I won't go into here it strikes a chord pretty deep inside me which rarely happens with any tv show/movie. Anyway, even if you don't watch the series, go watch the movie. I highly reccomend it, and so does Orson Scott Card.
