Im a crappy online friend, I know blackeyed

Ive just been too busy to get around and say hello lately. Hopefully things will settle down a bit a very little bit, but Ill take any relief I can get next month. So please bear with me. I havent fallen off the face of the planet not yet, anyway.

So, whats new?

Well, last week, as one pair of friends announced that theyre officially preggers, another pair delivered their first bundle of joy.

And what a name this girl got! Lets just say that shes named after a certain female member of the G.I. Joe team, and her Dad blessed her with a last name that oozes with action hero menace. Shes either going to grow up to be a female assassin or an actress.

Though I must say, all of this is making me long for the days when everyone was just getting married confused

My fears of commitment, growing old and children are fairly well documented here, so Ill refrain from any further ramblings on the subjects... But, in what may have been one of those little bops on the head from the Great Spirit in the Sky, I was given the opportunity to look at what can come of letting those fears run ones life.

I was walking back from the 7/11 when I noticed an old lady having trouble getting across the street. She was barely off the curb when the light would turn red on her. So I helped her across, waited while she got her lottery tickets, then walked her back to her apartment.

Anyway, she told me shed been living in the complex since the mid 60s, when rent was only $99!!! eeek Oh, how times have changed

But she also mentioned that shed never been married and never had kids, because she worried that she would have the same bad experience as her mother. It was really sad. As much as she tried to sound confident in that decision, the loneliness was evident in her voice.

So yeah, perhaps that was a little reminder that there are worse things than growing up

Anyway

We saw The Aristocrats yesterday. Its probably fair to say that the vast majority of the world will have to wait until its on DVD, so make sure you put it on your list.

HIL-FRIGGIN-LARIOUS!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin

Its basically a documentary about a joke thats been around since the days of Vaudeville, and how its been interpreted and reinterpreted over the years as just about every comic has added his or her own spin in an effort to out-shock their fellow comedians. Its not a joke thats told on comedy club stages, but rather backstage from one comedian to another. If you have sensitive ears youre probably best to avoid it. But if you can handle copious references to every bodily fluid imaginable, then youll have a good laugh.

What else? I know Im forgetting something

Eh, I gotta get back to it. Talk to yous peoples later. smile

No one is ever ready for kids.
Even folks who've been trying for years to either conceive or adopt have a little voice in the back of their heads spewing doubt. You can plan, read up, instill, inspire, encourage, discipline, etc. all you want - kids will digest it or they won't - they will be what they will be. It's mostly fun though. smile

Marriage on the other hand is all work and people should live together for at least 3 years to be sure they're right for each other. wink
