I am an old man

At least thats how I feel. I somehow managed to throw my neck/back out of whack and woke with the mother of all kinks last Sunday morning. Seriously, I could not turn my head without shrieking like a little girl! eeek

I ended up having to get a bunch of those medicated, self-heated maxi-pad-looking things. Try wearing one of those on your neck all day. Truly humiliating. But hey, it did give me an excuse to skip work on Monday, so I guess theres a bright side to everything.

The worst part is I havent been able to get into the gym since and Im starting to feel like a total slug. Im an ex-fat kid so Im obsessive compulsive about working out now. Hopefully Ill be able to at least do a little cardio tomorrow.

Id just like to know what the hell it is that I did to myself. So far my only theory is that it was as a result of my blowing a gasket after watching the new G.I. Joe cartoon on Saturday.

OK, rant time!

I am officially sick of the Japanese invasion of American pop-culture. Im sick of their little anime noses and manga-bug eyes. But most of all Im sick of the dumbed-down storytelling. This new Joe cartoon was nothing more than an endless stream of Poke Mon-styled action sequences without any semblance of story. mad

Now, Im not saying that the Joe cartoons of my youth were Shakespeare, but at least they had plots and occasionally sly writing that paid homage to subjects as varied as a Tiny Tim song to the old The Prisoner TV show. (And if you know the episodes of which I speak, you rock!)

I know its a little gripe in the big scheme of things, but seriously, I wouldnt want my kid watching mindless crap like that. I think Kyles mom got it right when she said (and Im paraphrasing, of course) that stupidity on television is far more harmful to a child than any amount of violence.

But I suppose its just another unfortunate side effect of our new global market. Its not enough that a show be popular in one country. You have to be able to re-dub it and ship it off to the second and third worlds as well. Then of course there are the parents groups and cause of the week clubs that ram their agendas down the producers throats whenever they get the opportunity.

Ugh

I can never figure out if I was born too early or too late confused

What else?

So, I see Snoop-Dog and his posse got into a little tussle with the London police. To my friends across the pond I say, please, pleeeaaase keep him. wink

Hmmm...

Watched The Toxic Avenger again last week. I forgot how damn good that movie is. P.E. loved it. Of course, if it's schlocky, chances are she'll love it. She worships at the temple of Russ Meyer.

There's a good question: what are some of your favorite bad movies?
