So the boss-man called the staff together this morning to inform us that there will be some downsizing, effective immediately…
So, naturally, benefits will be cut; health and retirement plans will take a significant hit… But worst of all, we’ll have to consolidate offices and I’ll actually have to work near (GASP) other people!
NOOOOOOO!!!
Take my retirement; force me into a crappy HMO, but for the love of God, at least let me keep my private bathroom!!!
Anyway, everyone is walking around the office bemoaning the economic state of California. And of course there’s a good percentage of ‘em who are all up in arms, shouting about how the government should get involved to alleviate the film industry’s problems.
Call me crazy, but when the government is (at the very least) seventy-five percent responsible for your economic woes, why in God’s name do you turn back to it for help??? We don’t need preferential tax schemes and the like, but rather a good fucking enema to replace the ideologues in the capitol with people who actually who deal in reality. This isn’t about Republicans vs. Democrats, but rather the simple fact that the California legislature is run by certifiable incompetents who are wantonly hostile to businesses.

So anyway, there’s gonna be a whole lotta moving next week. I’m thinking I may have to be sick either this Friday or next Monday to properly gird myself…
