summer's supposed to be rooftop parties and kissing under tables in dive bars, walking down avenue a on hallucinogens and sleeping on the grass in tomkins square park, playing mad pinball whenever wherever, and showing up everywhere on little kid bicycles. this summer was none of the above. only long walks when it was too hot to stay inside and staying up late thinking about...

Chocolate and chain restaurants...the only things that taste the same wherever you go, as I had ample opportunity to learn on my repeated annoying trips to New Jersey all summer for work. No decent salsa anywhere. Nowhere to get great sushi at 2am. Nowhere to get great sushi. Nowhere to see a great live band without a nlong trip to Philly or NYC. No funky coffeeshops. Nothing "funky" at all, really.

Missing the long, dreamy, wild, wacky summer in Texas.

I'm so glad I am not still in grade school, where I would be compelled to write a "What I Did This Summer" essay and hang my head in shame as it was read before the class.

Autumn is all mine, though! And luckily it's not all that different from summer here in Texas.

I want real salsa. I want to burn my lips with hot habanero peppers, then kiss the first cute girl I see.

Summer's not over till we say it's over. No wormhole required. Let's say it goes on and on and on and on and on....

last night the moon was big and yellow.
i played endless games of pool and pinball with a girl in a smokey (that's right smokey in SF) bar. It felt a little like a summer night.

"He touched the inside of my arm where the words are. He traced the small raised scars spelling out the words "I'm sorry". He looked at me without blinking. "You did this?" I nodded. He said, "You're perfect."

from cruddy, the best book ever, full of girls with fucked up faces and crooked teeth and singed eyebrows.

Yeah! I saw The Pioano Teacher. She's one of my faves!
ponyboy_curtis:
I remember when my Shygirl bleached both her eyebrows just to see what it would look like with her super short bangs. Then there was the time she confessed that one of her front teeth was a fake, and that she was thinking of having the faker removed and going without. I remember how hot i thought that was.

i should have gone to kendo class, but i was in one of those too-tired-but-can't-sleep moods, so i didn't. and here i am.

i just have to say, "cruddy" is such an awesome book. lynda barry is the supreme funk queen of the universe!

i'm been obsessing over someone, this girl, an artist. i think her work is pretty rad. so i did a little internet search and found her address, mott street. last winter i started sending her mail, little drawings and photoshop art. i have no idea if she still lives on mott street. i've never included my name or return address so my missives can't be...

You're a good stalker too!!!!
I know an artist who used to live on Mott St. She had her bathtub in her kitchen, but I don't know if she still lives there anymore.

i havn't been eating well lately. i guess that's what happens when you're broke and you spend your food money on therapy. haha. um, anyway. i did manage to buy a precious spicy tuna roll at panya yesterday. no matter how broke i am, there will always be an endless amount of change under the couch cushions that will keep me in cigarettes and tuna...

Dim Sum, Cigs, Paps.

P.S. I am sorta boycotting JAS, as well as M2M. I am worried that the two new snazzy places might be bad for our little Sunrise... And on the few things I have priced, Sunrise is cheaper, anyway. I have eaten the curry at Italian Tomato (the place above JAS), and it was OK. The spaghetti dishes are actually one of my favorites (mentaiko chilli or tarako), but I just get the packets at Sunrise and make it myself! Yummy! You gotta try it! I like it with a little bit of hot chilli oil... I think they were even on sale recently...

How about Soba-Ya? or... my god... OTAFUKU?!?!

i posted a picture of my bicycle for aster. i miss my baby, isn't she purty? right now she's in the hands of two filmmaking students somewhere in upstate new york. i told them if they didn't bring her back safe and sound i'd beat them with my 20 pound kryptonite chain. it was a joke but they looked kinda scared.

yesterday i fasted all...

Smoky was afraid of the dark but he'd torture himself by shutting himself in his room for days on ened, listening to Christian Death by the light of a few stubby candles. He ended up jumping in the river and we never saw him again.

Licorice Pizza was the name of the girl who taught me how to smoke cigarettes behind the dumpsters in the...

i like the little descriptions and stories of all these people. it's refreshing to sometimes come across a journal that is unrelated to what you ate for lunch.

I remember the kid that Beaver was. He's different now. Not better or worse. just different. He will always be the Burrito King to me. Even if Topr ate half a burrito more.

yesterday: a handful of unsulphered dry mangos, a huge salad with mixed greens, baby cucumbers, red onions and sesame seeds, a bowl of congee with a handful of cilantro on top, an unripe nectarine, two quesadillas with non-cheese and salsa, a couple of baked doritos, sticky rice wrapped in a giant piece of nori.

this boy left a note on my bicycle. he wants to...

ooh, yum! you make me drool.

i went away several times this summer but it didn't satisfy me. i am going to fix up my bike, though, and take you up on your idea. i'm going to ride through the bad part of town and take some photos of the buildings and the river valley!

post a pic of your bike?
