BUENOS AIRES (AFP) Argentina's Supreme Court on Tuesday decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana for personal use, tossing out tough provincial drug laws whose penalties it deemed unconstitutional.

wow it is crazy that Argentina is going that before us.

Not so crazy, nikonphoto80. With the exception of that whole establishment of a 'modern republican government', the U.S. has been habitually behind the curve. One need only compare other nations to the U.S. when they: abolished slavery; granted women the right to vote; granted 18yo the right to vote; entered into both World Wars; recognized gay marriage (still very much an on-going issue); established national health care infrastructure (also on-going). Is it really any surprise that when it comes to liberalizing its drug laws, the U.S. would also be behind?
