broke through the 5mile wall today. As I may have mention I love running, but I have never really been that great at it. In Iraq working out is about all you really can focus on besides patrols. Im kind of a big guy, 207lbs...I should update that, and have never been fast. Yet, I usually run about 20 miles a week and I try to focus on distance since thats what I enjoy. Honestly, right around 5 miles im usually spent. Partly because of the pace and partly because of how often I run....about 5 times a week. So, today I hit 6.24 miles in a little under an hour. Not fast, but its progress and it makes me feel like I accomplished something.
The only problem is im gaining wieght. 199 just prior to deployment to 207 now. I have changed my diet to low carb and have increased my protien intake. I dont do wieghts, but my push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups are going really well. Also, I am pushing myself alot more on the running, aiming for 25miles aweek. So, Im gaining muscle i assume. Afterall, im 31, i'll never be sexy again, but I would rather not break 210. Granted, its just a number and I can pass a pt test np. I guess I wouldnt mind being a little leaner and I was hoping a run based workout plan would get me there......but I really dont have a runners build. I'll just have to see what happens.
