i am so close to finishing a major project i can taste it. i don't want to get ahead of myself, but there is a sense of completion that i cannot deny.

i look forward now to the mundane, doing laundry and dishes and cleaning my house of the debris the frantic lifestyle of the past several months has left behind.

on sunday i thought...

i thought i would save my back and not haul the 60 lbs. of crap i needed to take with me today over to the drivers side of the car. "no" i thought, "take it out the passenger side."

when i was standing there recognizing that i had just locked the keys in my car, and everything else i needed, i felt like crying. it...

Oh that sucks. i usually find a coat hanger can be coaxed into getting the locks open but sometimes it's just quicker to opt for road service.

And I haven't forgotten...

Ok, here's one for you!
12 years ago I decided to ask the girl I had been dating to marry me. I went out and bought a 2 caret Emerald ring and planned a weekend out in the wilderness, just the two of us, to ask her.
When we got there, I was as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! So nervous that when we pulled into one of the touristy scenic views I proceeded to lock the keys in the car, alongside the ring in my backpack, both in the trunk!
Of course, this was before mobile phones had become so common place and therefore had to ask someone to drive us to the ranger's station 3 miles away, to call a recovery vehicle, which was 15 miles away!
Then, because the car was an Audi, the bloke from recovery told us he would have to tow the car back to his garage to get into the main part of the car, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to get into the trunk due to the extra security features of Audi's!
Jump 4 hrs later, it's dark by now, we've finally gotten into the car after being towed out; I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out how to get in the boot!
Luckily, if you can call it that, Audi's have another feature they can come with - a pass-through point from the back seat to the boot which you can carry your skis inside the car!

Unfortunately, her Aunt hadn't gotten this part of the package!

So I had to unbolt the back part of the seat, remove the cushion totally out of the car, cut through the metal tabs of the plate where the port should be, wheedle myself into a space about 6in wide by 10in high (basically my head, and one arm) work my way through and around the two rucksacks, tent, spare tire, etc that littered the boot to get into the side pocket of my bag to get the keys!

And the ring!

Needless to say, I succeeded! We went off, back to the site I had originally chosen to camp for the night. Woke up the next day and took her to another of the scenic viewpoints overlooking the whole geographical area; went down on one knee and pulled said ring from my pocket and asked her that famous question!

She said yes!

Fast-forward another year, (we were waiting til we were done with college for the ceremony) I realised that there were actually too many differences in our dreams to make things work and called the whole thing off.

I still think, to this day, I shoulda realised it wasn't meant to be from the get-go because of the hardship I had initially asking her!

Sorry for the length, I was just trying to show you maybe your day wasn't as bad as it could have been! biggrin

someone told a false version of my story today, describing my experience in a disparaging way. her comments started a gossip snowball. in the past i have fared poorly in this type of political situation. today i made a pre emptive phone call and stepped out of the game. i feel pretty good about that.
