i come from a family who, historically, has had difficulty honouring the gifts we all have. we are all blessed beyond belief. this year i resolve not to engage in any dispute or disagreement; i will smile and nod instead of saying anything acerbic. i will laugh whenever possible. and finally i will leave if i find it too difficult to stick to these resolutions.

Sometimes, all you can do is walk away from those who are too thick-skulled to accept love and generosity.

And there is always next year. Perhaps they'll learn and grow, as you have and will, and in the future, a happy holiday will be had.
cineman:
It sounds like you have a very sober assessment of the situation and much gratitude for the gifts that have come your way. Good for you! And too bad for those who don't get it.

Hmm. It seems our personal philosophies may overlap even more that I'd thought previously. Must look into this in the New Year.

Good luck dealing with everyone and keeping your attitude in place, and cheers! smile

Hmmm. Perfume.
That reminds me.
The girl I loved in high school wore Jovan White Musk.
I wish I had gotten the chance to smell it on her more often.
I feel so lonely sometimes. You know it's bad when you miss your high school crush.

Merry Xmas to you, and a bountiful and profitous new year.

Thanks for waking me up. I'd forgotten what was important. You probably didn't even know how I'd take that comment or how much I'd think about it. It set me straight. I feel a lot better now about my situation as a teacher. Thank you so much... kiss biggrin

i started a christmas friends thread: who believes in christmas and why?

(this is not a rhetorical question)
s_eldorado:
I do. It's better explained via email. Go check yours.

andvari:
Check who signed the ticket. If if wasn't a cop, but a desk clerk instead, maybe you can get off.
kundalini:
Multinova? I left another comment in yesterday' journal too, not realizing somehow that you had updated... wink

i am going to the ballet tonight.

"the nutcracker".

is it just me or is that kind of an unfortunate name for a ballet. smile

pica_pica:
I've never been to the ballet either, not sure I'd ever want to go to a regular one, but the nutcracker -- due to it's christmassy link -- would be one I think I'd really like to check out.

How was it? (lame question, I know.)

That, and of course a live orchestra of Handels Messiah.
kundalini:
Now I understand better... Thanks.

I spend so much time reading what my students write, it's difficult to not ask the same things of peers and friends as I ask of my kids. smile

my life used to be small and mean. i thought it was because the world i lived in was narrow, but then i realized it was because my eyes were closed.

How did you know what the feeling in your soul was?
kundalini:
From where did this stench of death originate? What gave you this odor?

have you ever noticed that some of the most challenging lessons in life are, in fact, very simple?

i was cleaning my wallet today and i found a picture of a man i met one summer day. it was taken in a photo booth. and i remember how i felt in that exact moment, i knew that without the photo i might come to believe...

I absolutley love your profile pics. And I know just what you mean about pictures. After my car accident, i took so many of them. I was afraid of losing my memory at any moment I guess and I would go through at least one of those disposable ones every other week or so. Thank god for digital! biggrin

if a tree drops in the city and there is no one there to see it does it still look as fallen?

today the tree across the street was brought down. it was surreal. man, rope and chainsaw silhouetted against the prairie sky. i saw a huge hunk of tree skim the building as it swung down in its inevitable arc.

cuz I think I'm kinda broken.

and the tree?
yeah. It's fireplace fodder.
