I've always wanted a dog that follows me around and sleeps at the foot of my bed. I've owned three dogs in my life and none of them have done any such thing. My cat Steve however does exactly that. Every morning when I wake up he's curled around my feet, he greets me at the door when I get home from work, and he sits on the couch next to me while I watch tv. I somehow projected my desires for the dog I never had on to my silly cat.
It's awesome.

I had a dog like that when I was a little kid...but never again since.
