Amsterdam/Den Haag: Like last year, we were able to get a particular KLM agent to extend our layover from a couple hours to a couple days.
This year I didn't eat the space cake. That was bad news. Bad, bad news. Didn't make it to the Secret Garden to visit the ocelot sanctuary!!
We tried to visit a friend, but she was in the midst of the worst nervous breakdown of her life. It's a tumultuous time for evolved souls.
Berlin: I guess we weren't in the right places at the right times, because our stay wasn't extraordinary. The one goth club that was happening featured 4 goths smoking up a storm. Good news: There is a freak street in Berlin. One of our kitties passed away while we were there. We had the funeral yesterday. More on that later, but it involves a lot of trans-dimensional work. Are you all up for it?
Leipzig: The Wave Gotik Treffen Festival! We were in shitty spirits. Unto Ashes had major drama on stage, then we saw lead singer, Mariko at the train station afterwards, fuming. Sex Gang Children played, and Andy Sex Gang did a solo show the next day in one of the more intimate lieux (there were venues all over town). He had lost his voice, and was spraying medicated stuff in his throat using sweeping gestures that he melodramatically integrated into his performance. We didn't know he had such a sense of humor! The Cruxshadows played and the vox were dreadful, I hate to say. I like the obscure Cold Meat Industries label bands the best. Leipzig is a lot cuter than Berlin.
Paris: We arrived around the same time Bush did, and I was fortunate enough to have participated in a monster rally. There are pictures of me holding a picket sign that read, "Bush: the number one terrorist", and we carried around radical pamphlets and stormed the Bastille. I met SG member, Bulle, at her piercing shop. When I lived there it was a subcultural desert. Now you can't walk down the streets of certain arrondissements without running into a tattoo or piercing establishment. One of the goth nights was held at a PIZZA PARLOR! But there's a bar called Les Furieux where freaks regularly hang out in the Bastille. We got some great footage for the cats of the world book that my co-traveler is working, as we sniffed out a garden that was teeming with cats. It's kind of like when the Buddha would take a step and up sprouted a lotus.
