Hello friends. Thanks for all your kind comments about my grandpa's portrait. I am super happy about it.

This has been a weird week. The dude and I bought a second car (well, mostly he bought it, but I guess it's "my" car). It is a 2000 Civic four door. It is green. I like it a lot! I haven't owned a car for the last 5 1/2 years so it's a little weird too.

The bowling alley is in a pretty crappy part of town. A lot of prostitutes actually commute from Richmond to the Canal part of San Rafael. The bowling alley is comfy and you can hang out there all day, and there are snacks and no one will kick you out. So pretty frequently hookers and their pimps end up sitting around either in the alley or in the bar. They play pool and drink soda. Sometimes they actually solicit the day laborers who play pool there. It's fucking weird and uncomfortable, especially because often the prostitutes are obviously under 18. I'm never quite sure what to do. Should I call the cops? I mostly want the pimps and the dudes paying for underage prostitutes to get arrested. But the only person who I can usually easily identify is the hooker herself.

Marin is a weird place. Everyone seems to just not care that the Canal is seething with crime, because they don't have to go there and the Canal residents don't really go into the rest of Marin except to work. It's bizarre that within a ten minute drive there Ross, which has one of the highest per capita incomes of any zip code in the US, yet by the bowling alley you have teenage hookers giving $10 blowjobs in the back of a Ford Fiesta. I guess there are a lot of places in the world with that kind of disparity but it's pretty weird to see it every day.

Well, calling the police is going to be a lot safer for everyone involved (including those poor girls). And it can provide a bit of a liability shield for your employers. You may even be able to get them to call so you don't have to.
