I came across a term today that I absolutely love. "L'esprit d'escalier" Its French, and translates to 'the spirit of the stairway'. There's no real english/american equivalent that I know of. It refers to the witty, clever things that pop into your head just after you leave the room. All of the things you wish you had said when you had the chance, but couldn't think of at the time. They come to you "on the stairway" as you're leaving the building. It's a wonderful concept that needs to be a part of our culture. I have to think of Her, and how I didn't tell Her how wonderful She is when I had the chance. I'd get in the car and suddenly get amazingly witty and charming, and chat up the steering wheel with the things I should've said to Her. I talk to Her almost every day, and get to see Her on saturday. After dinner and the show we have planned, She wants to take me to a goth club She knows. So I'll most likely be drinking heavily and fawning all over Her in the way I have of habit of doing... It'll probably turn into another night where I crash at Her place, at least this time She has a couch for me to sleep on. I can't sleep next to Her again, it was far too tortuous last time, even though the dreams were Amazing.
