Okay, people seem to be getting confused. This horribleness is not in any way his fault. It is not a mindset. It is not self-fulfilling prophecies. It is not him. Sometimes really shitty things happen to nice people who do genuinely try to find the good in things. Sometimes things are just fucking shitty. Sometimes things can't be explained and justified away by blaming it on the person experiencing them. And that's hard to understand because people don't want to believe that bad things can just happen, they need some kind of explanation, some way to tell themselves that the world is a balanced place where people get what they want and deserve. But it's not.
