I just returned to the ever-so-lovely paradise of Fayetteville...shriek. I spent the weekend catching up on everything that i've missed in my absence...which took all of 2 minutes. In addition, I had a very relaxed 4 days off, partaking in dining, dancing, & drunken tomfoolery...well, maybe not so much of the latter. Its nice to not have to have any concept of time!
I also spent recent days filling in my upcoming schedule with all of the concerts coming up...
I am going to 6 Sigur Ros shows over an 8 day period with more than 2000 miles of driving....insane?...some might say...they are only playing 16 shows here in the U.S. Well, keep in mind that this is my favorite band & I did work for them on their last tour, attending every show. If you have yet to listen to this amazing band, I suggest that you take my advice and check out at least one song...is that so difficult? The new album, "Takk" will be released on September 13th & every critic is proclaiming this to be one of the 1st true masterpieces of the 21st century. Their first two singles, "Saeglopur" & "Glosoli" were released on August 16th and the only way to get them is via digital download on itunes. I will gladly reimburse you the $1.98 if you aren't completely floored by their sheer musical brilliance and unmistaken, emotionally charged sound. So, the question that you may be posing is, "How can you go to so many shows & not tire of their music?" Simply stated, no two performances are alike and the interactive musical charge that you walk away with is unlike any other experience that you'll probably ever have.
"For the 1st time, i stood completely entranced in the journey of life & if I had died at that moment, i would have been content. - my quote following the end of the 2003 () tour.
If you are interested in any of their previous 3 studio releases, "Von", "Agaetis Byrjun", or "()", you can find the latter two at any Best Buy or Circuit City...I suggest starting with those...and no you cannot download the entire albums from a pirated download site. Spend the 12 bucks and just go out & get an album. The musical arrangements and sequential songs in their entirety should be listened to to gain both the full musical experience as well as an appreciation for the band & their music. Well, i think that i've been off on one of my mechanical rants for long enough....so, you decide!!!
...back from the tangent...i also got tix for the upcoming 2 day show in Staten Island on October 1st & 2nd...The Killers, Beck, Oasis, the New York Dolls, Belle & Sebastian, Tegan & Sara just to name a few.....need I say more?? $100 for 2 days is one hell of a deal!
And then, Fall Out Boy with the Starting Line & motion city Soundtrack on Oct. 15th at the House of Blues.

BTW....I never did give you an update regarding the Finch & RX Bandits show in early August....well, for those of you that did not attend, you really missed out! Both bands were going off with Finch ending the show on "Ender" & "What it is to Burn".

...til the next....

If you have information on upcoming shows that you think I might not want to miss, then give me an update....
