so, i feel like i may have found my calling in life. if not a calling, then an excellent jumping point. about a month or two ago, a couple of friends and i were bullshit on a sunday afternoon about who could grow the best beard. a competition was proposed and the idea of turning it into a charity event seemed perfect. so we scribbled some stuff down on a bar napkin and Beards BeCAUSE was born. a two month beard growing competition with three parties with all the proceeds going to the Charlotte Battered Women's Shelter.
we started out thinking that it was going to be 10-15 guys and we thought we could realistically raise about $5000. but we got an amazing design firm signed on to help us out and it has gone through the roof. an article in the paper, some radio and news coverage and it is all blowing up. we have 45 growers now. even got all_sewn_up on board as one of our growers.
last week we met with the charlotte checkers and they are going to host a night of hockey with all proceeds going to our charity. that night alone will help us reach our $5k goal.
its just all phenomenal...
