God, I am glowing today, I got to go see the singer from my favorite band (thrice) play solo and acoustic in S.F. last night and I was in love... the second guy was sooo good and then dustin came on... and was simply amazing. He covered elvis costello twice, sinead o'conner, counting crows, and played two of his own and a bunch of thrice songs.... it was amazing... his voice is so soulful, he can do so much more outside of thrice... the only things that saddened me was he played two songs he had been working on to record his own album... and there were REALLY christian. But I still love the man. The last time I saw them was the first time I saw them, and got to hangout with him after the show in a back room thanks to the thrice alliance, and I had worn a black shirt with a bear's face growling outlined in white... he had confessed his undying love for both bears and my shirt... and just as I left, I randomly felt compelled to take off my shirt and hand it to him, and that is just what I did, and he yelled for his band to check out the shirt and what I had given him. I felt like a groupie but I could see he was genuinely pleased... like a little boy with a new toy. and then I saw the name of his new solo project last night "ursus veritas" which was a witty play on latin... instead of saying BARE truth, it means BEAR truth hahaha. and the shirt has a picture of a bear on it. Made me feel good to know he loves bears that much. Anyway, he was really good.
