According to Newton objects at rest tend to stay at rest. Inertia is a powerful force that weighs us down. The first movement takes the most amount of energy. Once you get that ball rolling it becomes easier to speed it up or maintain it. Im now in state of deep inertia once again. The good news is that every time I find myself in such a state, something good always happens. Once I get myself moving again good things come with it. This gives me cause for optimism. However, it does not change the fact that Im currently inert. My situation makes me ponder once again the nature of all of this. When were young, life seems very much like a race. You have to accomplish certain things and those things count as a progression towards what will eventually be your life. As you get older you realize that the future cares nothing for your history. Time does not wait for you to make a decision. Opportunities pop up and disappear just as quickly, second chances are very rare, and there isnt an instruction manual for any of this.

What I have learned is that if you do nothing then nothing tends to happen. Sitting on your ass just leads to more of the same. I would be nice from time to time to be able just to put life on cruise control and smell those famous roses that everyone keeps telling me about. But life just does not operate that way. That small thing you didnt do on Tuesday has a potentially enormous impact four months from now. That email you didnt respond to, that phone message you didnt deliver, that stupid thing you said, they all might seem so small and insignificant but they actually arent. The butterfly flapping its wings may or may not cause an earthquake in China, but that extra five minutes you took to help someone out, well that does make a big difference.

The person you assisted might have decided that very day that all people are evil and selfish and then you come along and do some simple spontaneous favor for them, and viola theyre believing in humanity again. Unfortunately the reverse is true. You were in a bad mood and so you were a little curt with someone for no good reason. That rudeness may have stopped that persons momentum. They may have lost just that little extra energy needed to do the thing they wanted.

Here in the United States we believe so strongly in self-determination, but I think its a load of crap. We are not living in a world of one. Youre affected by others actions, and your actions effect others. We have built an isolated society where we think we exist in a vacuum but we absolutely dont. We make an impact every day both positively and negatively on the world we inhabit.
evangelin:
That is very introspective so late or early depending on how you look at it. Unfortunately it is very true-I don't think any of us realize the impact that action or non action causes to we're older and have a chance to experiance different life offerings. Sadly some people will never understand because they lack the comfort of self and Life evaluation. Sometimes I catch myself in a pissy mood and just the gesture, the negative energy vibration is enough to cause more chaotic events in the day. So I usually try to WOOSSAAAA shake it off and keep trucking. That also takes the balls to look at your self and take some responsibility for why crap might be happening. That is a humbling moment. But not half as humbling as your moment, which you will HAVE to share with me!!!!
