I got to see Dreamcatcher last night. I swear, people need to quit trying to make horror movies based on Stephen King novels. Every time they do, with the exception of Pet Semetary and The (original) Shining, they always get screwed up. The Dreamcatcher was just wierd because they cut too much info out of it. I believe that a lot of it is just Stephen King's style of writing. He includes so much detail into his books that it is really hard for them to get going. However, once it does, all that info is necessary to see how everything fits in to the scheme of things. Granted, the Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and, to a point, Hearts in Atlantis were different stories, but they weren't really horror to begin with. But with his "horror" movies, they just seem to lose the macabre atmosphere somewhere in the translation to film every time. I think they just need to find the right crew to produce the right story. I was thinking M. Night Shyamalan, Gore Verbinsky, or Darren Aronofsky possibly? Even Tim Burton or Clive Barker wouldn't be too bad. One of his books that I wouldn't mind seeing made into a movie (if and ONLY if they got the right people to do it) would be the Dark Tower series. Although King has already admitted that he will probably never finish the series in his life time, I think it could be a hell of an accomplishment if someone could pull it off. Of all the characters that Stephen King has created, it would just be a crying shame not to give one like Roland his moment in the limelight.
