was talking to a friend of mine. she was having a bit of trouble with her boy.
riddle me this: why is it that certain women rather loudly say that they desire certain characteristics in a man, and yet in practice claim satisfaction with those who do not begin to satisfy said criteria? this girl, for example, is unusually mature and delightfully bright. she is a talented artist who actually gets paid to do art, and enjoys experiences that i can only begin to dream about since i am still in school. she is dating (and living with) a petty, spoiled (but admittedly kind) sort of guy. he irritates her (and some of us) regularly with peurile games, manipulative and lazy behavior, etc. hes kind of a mooch, since hes between defense jobs and lives rent-free in her rosslyn apt.
she always says she wants someone who can keep up with her intellectually, someone who acts their age, and so on. i think i know what she means: someone who impresses her all the time. thats what i say/want, anyhow. i would under most circumstances be thrilled to be with someone like her. but i absolutely will not, in her case. you know why? because shed probably leave me for another douche bag. so ill just keep offering to meet for coffee, and ill keep listening to how awful it all is.
while im at it, ill wish that all the good ones werent crazy.
