As we all probably feel robbed of that precious hour of sleep here goes a monday I would have loved to skip. But being the overlly responsible type I cannot fake sickness to stay home. Hell I can't even seem to stay home when I am sick. IE last week...

I took my son to the Museum of Flight yesterday and we had a good...

It's so hard not to feel bad about putting your foot down with children. Especially if they are generally good and sweet. I always feel like a terrible old hag when I do it. How old is your son?

The blue pill tasted sinful. See my new entry for the lurid details. surreal
voile:
Correction: child. As in one little girl, who is also turning 7 in a month or so.

The proposition is scary... and I'm not going to do it. But tempting none the less.

Random thought Thursday.

Being in 2 bands sucks.... not enough brain cells left to focus on both.

My grass is 8 feet tall, but as I leave at 7 a.m. and get home at 10:00 pm all I can do is watch it grow. (I hope that kid of mine can start mowing soon)

Jagr bombs rock for cold medication...

My first project with The...

Well, survived the weekend. Guess I should sleep. I miss that hour and I want it back! frown

Just to make things more interesting during this busy time for me. I get sick. Dayquill rules though........To quote my mom.. I will survive. No wait that was Gloria Gaynor. Dayquill rules..... Just a slight little buzz........

I feel dumber than usual, so anything I say today cannot be held against me.

Okay people stop by and tell me the things that you look forward...

Well, I sold another Gretsch snare that was definitely from the 60's and it had some crazy white pearl psychodelic skin and it was beautiful. It was such a strange size, too. Like a 14x14" or something. At first I thought it was a tom that had been converted to a snare but it was actually all original. The shell was perfect, nothing was cracked or damaged. I couldn't tune it for some reason ... but you don't honestly think I know how to do that anyway, do you? I was just having trouble with equal torque so I guess maybe some of the threads needed waxing or something ... but overall it was in what I would call *very good* condition for something of its age. It's the just the really ugly ones that amaze me. And I see them altogether too often. And they ALWAYS sell.

Oh, the UGLIEST thing I ever saw? (Drum related, I mean...) When we got that beautiful DK cocktail kit, there were some red glitter drum sticks that came with it. I was about to ask if drummers are just extra tacky or something but then I remembered the orange glitter flying v guitar and realize that no one has a monopoly on a bad taste. No really ... it was orange glitter. And someone did, indeed, buy it from eBay. whatever

Today doesn't suck because my customer fucked up and then somehow a big project I thought needed to be done was STANDARD with our new system, so now I'm waiting on them and can walk proudly down the hall. This is just dumb luck, no effort on my part ... but how do you like me now? wink I probably won't get fired again today. Damn, I lead a charmed life.

How's Monday for you? smile
malloryknoxx:
LOL @ "echo chamber". You are so correct. The whole house is wood floors now and the echo is ridiculous with no furniture.

So how did practice go?

Edited because I should never post at 2 am after drinking red/bull and vodka.........

My nephew's play last night was very cool. This kid is ultra talented in the arts. He was the beast in "Beauty and the Beast" He has an incredible deep powerful singing voice for a 16 year old. He also plays the piano, Drums, Guitar, Bass...
That is just amazing to...

You know what's funny? I didn't think that was a sad story. Ken & Barbie suck mad but I get to move and hopefully somewhere I really love. It WILL be better in the end. I am touched that everyone seems to worry about me, though.

I'm not working today BUT I am also out of 420 and that's how my weekend job pays me ... so I'm starting to get a little antsy. Think I'll make it until tomorrow? whatever

Have a great day! kiss

It is hard to find good people but I find more of them per square inch on this site than anywhere in years. That makes me happy! In fact, a nice man from this site is taking me to Elvis Costello tonight. And I'm about to run a snare stand over to thrashead at his record shop. We all just seem to help each other. Yesterday, MalloryKnoxx unknowingly inspired me to do something super groovie. And then there is nolefdetnaw ... love ... blush ... let's just say he helps me in ways that most of you will never get the chance to. OMG, is he HOT! LOL ... I sound like a damned teenager.

Anyway, he's bringing me to Seattle in just 3 more weeks. You seem to keep ignoring me when I tell you that. So what should we do for fun and excitement up there? I have never been any further north than Sacramento, so this should be an adventure. We are meeting a few SG'ers along the route. Maybe we can arrange to show up at your place at about, oh, 4:20? wink

When I put my ad "Drummer available" I was not expecting it to happen this fast. I am glad it did but for the next 2 weeks I am in 2 bands. Here is my scheduale for my "free time".

Friday(today) go to nephews play
Saturday-self-practice-soccer game-dinner with friends-night club after.
Sunday-Egg hunt and day with friends family
Monday- new band practice
Tuesday-Son's soccer practice...

Morning CF biggrin
So this must mean that band took you on. Yayyyy!!

Congrats!!! That's excellent.

Things are good over here - just a little restless because there's nothing left to do but wait for the settlement on the house to happen - which will be the 31st. Then on to a hotel for a few days while that lovely fat check goes through and we are OUT of here. Can't get here fast enough as far as we're concerned smile

It's funny - on the subject of busy schedules....I used to absolutely LOVE having a crazy, tightly packed agenda.
Not so much anymore. Getting old is a bitch tongue I still like to keep fairly busy - but I find that I require a few more hours for down time nowadays.

Okay, so I found this new method of doing the SG site while at work so I don't have all these open browser windows for my co-workers to spy when they are sneaking up behind me. Thank gawd for headphones at work ... and curses to the evil men who think it is funny to use my headphones against me as I jump 10' in the air when they are just suddenly behind me. tongue So what I do is have this page as the homepage on an Outlook folder and then IE never has to open up. The only problem with this method is that I will be typing a comment and then halfway through, forget what I'm doing and click on another folder. Bye bye, half finished comment. Like what just happened. I'm sure it was the most brilliant comment I was ever going to leave for you and I apologize that your life has been robbed of its wisdom and beauty because of my carelessness ... but I'll try again! This comment is like Tenacious D's Tribute song ... Suzy's tribute to the best comment ever written!

Shutting down works for me, too. It just doesn't work for any of the others around me. Some days I actually care about that. Most days ... meh!

But my #1 way of coping with overscheduling is to just forego sleep. My grandma used to tell me that you need less sleep as you get older and I have lived like I believed her for the last 25 years (because 16 IS older than say, 10).

Today someone brought brownies to work so at 9:35 AM I am flying high from 2 cups of coffee and 2 chocolatey things. That helps, too! Well, it doesn't clear the schedule ... but if feels like I can leap tall projects (and consequences) with a single bound. Geez, can't wait for 4:20 to roll around so I can *regulate* ... I think there is really something wrong with me this morning. eeek

kiss

This is going to be quick but I just got a phone call from the lead singer of "The Sins" and I am their new drummer.

More later when this damn work stops getting in the way.

Ha ha--I keep getting that reaction to my trip. But its Holland, Michigan--think Kalamazoo area. I wish it were the country though--it'd be a lot more interesting.

I am hurting. I am pretty sure I have a broken rib. When I bend I feel a pop in my side. This will be the second time I have broken a rib. I have been trying for a week to overcome the pain, but my tolerance has slowly faded.

Which means I am not the nicest person to be around. I generally have to...

How are feeling today? Are you ready for your thingy tonight?

*sigh* I think I'm actually going to have to work today. It's Thursday and it's really hard to put a whole week's worth of tasks off until Friday.

I was on the phone yesterday and said something like ... well, it's 4:20 and blah, blah ... I was interrupted by the guy on the other line ... IT'S 4:20?!? ... geez, this job just interferes with so many of my happy pleasures. But I thought of you at that moment. wink
suzy_kabloozy:
I will be in Seattle somewhere around 4/18 or 4/19 or something like that. You can buy me a drink then if you like. One of the goals of my roadtrip is to get a picture of me kissing a girl for my journal so I will be needing all the drinks I can get! wink Of course, I'm having martinis with raejay next week at Musso & Franks. She said she was a WHORE for a martini so really never know. wink

I'm telling you ... I don't think that the tattoo is going to look like that when it is healed. The skin blew up in a couple places and it looks like the ink spread. It's the weirdest thing ... I have never seen this before. But I'm not committing to anything until it's healed. You really never know.

And take all the time you need to read it ... I'm sure I won't update again today. smile

Since I am bored and really can't think of anything of consequence to discuss here(never seemed to stop me before). ....

You cool girlfriends....Pick my clothes for me. Since I get to buy some killer clothes (assuming I get the post-punk,.......Dark Rock...... Goth rock... whatever..... gig). What should I wear? Has to be sleeveless. (got's to show the ink off you know.)

Now offense guys....but...

Hey, you should play a gig the day I'm in Seattle so I can hear you. There will be a journal update tomorrow, I sure, but I have to work in the morning and I'm not going home tonight so it might not be until later in the day. I like this weekend. smile Of course there will be pictures...

Random thoughts today.

Life at work is so much better without the stress monster boss around.

It's raining here for the first time in a long time and I like it.

I am in dreadful drummer shape, due to slacking off before this band called.

I actually love drumming. I am practicing 3 hours a day and if I did not have a job,wife,kid.... I...

That's funny ... the large pink boobs follow me around, too. Sometimes I think ... wow, I'd like to squeeze those boobs. And then I remember. And then I do. wink

If only 4:20 meant something here at work. All it means today is that I'll be about 1 hour and 10 minutes away from happiness.

But you be sure to remember for me, k? BTW, I could live on your vices if I ever run out of my own. smile
