Oh dear - my bad!!!! I made an incorrect assumption blush

Well hell YEAH playing gigs wears you out!! I understand that's exhausting - physically AND mentally.

I'm good today. I didn't drink too much last night--two drunken guys making funny phone calls was all the entertainment any of us really needed.

Inspired by Suzy_kabloozy

I was born James but no one ever called me anything but Jamie. Cept my brother called me bubba. My Dad wanted to call me Dirk, so my Mom hid the registration from him.

I am the last of 6. A natural Brady Bunch 3 girls 3 boys.
My next sibling up is 5 years older and my nemesis in life.
He...

I'll bet your son thinks you're the coolest dad in the world because you play Halo with him. My dad would occasionally play Atari with my brother and I, and we loved it.

And apparently, its very common for relationships to falter after getting a name tattooed on yourself. This according to the guy who did my last tattoo. All I have to say is, that's a hell of a commitment and I think its awesome when people do it for the right reasons. Unlike a guy I once dated, who had his ex's name on his arm, because, according to him, she didn't believe he really loved her so he had to prove it to her. whatever
ragefilledmuffin:
Ha--your kid complains when you get a tattoo? That's different. My dad just rolls his eyes when I tell him I got another one. The first one really hurt him I think--he was pretty speechless beyond asking why I'd do something so permanent to myself.

I can tell you that does'nt happen often on a day not named Friday Saturday or Sunday.. Must be rubbing off fromMallorryknox and Suzy_Kabloozy.

Hell yeah - you ARE a cutie!!!

Quitting smoking is a bitch - I've never been able to keep to it myself tongue IMO, it's nearly physically imopssible.

Wow - weird. A good mood rubbed off on you....from me???
Nahhhh. Must be from Suzy. LOL
I'm generally not seen as the cheerful, upbeat type.

BUSTED! Heh.
Don't sweat it. Just get right back on the wagon.
You know, rah-rah and all that.

So my concept for the new band...The first "Set" would be late 50's. All members would be dressed to that era. Stand up bass ,classic guitar ,drum setup all in tune. After a yet to be determined # of songs, all but one member of the band go backstage to change. A guitarist or bass player would be on stage playing a solo while a...

Oddly enough, though - my piercing isn't swollen at all or even red. I guess I got lucky....I'm certainly not going to complain biggrin
suzy_kabloozy:
Hehehe ... Faster Pussycat played in Los Angeles last night but I didn't go because I guess they are goth now and I wasn't sufficiently motivated. TaimeD is here on this site, though. And Babylon is a great song, too! The only thing about Faster Pussycat that still torments me ... Brent Muscat once said I did too many drugs. But Cat House was one of my fav clubs back in the day. Ah, such good memories!

And good for you for approaching this sensibly and considering your family. That is why age and treachery will always triumph over youth and enthusiasm. It sounds like you are doing this right. Kudos! smile

Hehehe ... yeah, it would be such a sacrifice to come to a CASINO ... but for you, anything! You really have my curiosity piqued about the concept now. I love things that are bigger than life. kiss
malloryknoxx:
Actually - I like this set better. It is big....but DAMN it'd sound SWeeeeeeTT!!

Yayyyy!!! I'm so glad you heard from your reps finally. I'm all excited for you!!

And no - doesn't sound the least bit weird for a music deal biggrin

What a weird day. First my boss tells me he is having problem with his concentration and that I have to shoulder more of the work until he gets fixed. Second, one of the guitarists called me and he is moving out of state. Since he owns the practice studio I think we are done. I had wanted to find a new band anyway but...

He's having a "problem with his concentration"?? What the hell does THAT mean?

Looks like the fates have decided it's time for you to find a new band......NOW. An upheaval, granted - but I bet it'll work out for the best smile

And yeah - I just had a talk with my husband about this bidding war crap - we've decided to go in tommorrow and tell the realtor to stop taking contracts and go for the highest bid. Which, by the way, is 10 grand more than we listed for.
It's most definately time to quit while we're ahead.

Did you ever hear back from the money man? I know you were supposed to hear last week and I know you were assuming no news is bad news ... but did you ever get a definitive answer?

I have a concentration problem, too. I wish someone could cover for me, but I keep forgetting to find someone to ask. What was I talking about? Oh yeah, tell your boss to stop looking at SG all day long at work and maybe he could concentrate again. Oh wait ... that's me again. What were we talking about?

How'd your anniversary end up? Did your wife get lucky? wink

I'd be glad to find out that even a thread still holds this thing together. Unfortunately I am not in control and I am taking this as a no news=bad news.

On a happier note, It is my 11th Anniversary. Yes, we were kids when we met. Now we have a 7 year old and we are adults.

I wonder sometimes if her tolerance of...

Happy (belated) anniversary!!

I think that's SO very cool that you're appreciation of your wife has obviously not faded.
And do I EVER know what you mean about being a kidult. I'm one of those myself biggrin
malloryknoxx:
I think it's cool that you're comfortable enough where you are to stay put.
I swear - as soon as I feel that way, I'll stay the hell put as well smile

And I really liked what you said about your side of the bed always being the same....and "she's always next to me".
Yeah - having a spouse that you actually *like* rocks biggrin

So what's the deal on the deal? Terms too high? Are they negotiating? Did the Money Man wipe his butthole with the offer? Today is the day I am supposed to hear about the deal but all is silent, except the pessimism running around in my head.

One of my friends went inactive on SG. I don't have enough friends for that to happen goddammit. frown
suzy_kabloozy:
Awww ... I hate to lose friends on SG! Every once in a while someone removes me and I think ... was it something I said? Now if this happens after a rant, I can understand ... but on my happy journal days I'm a little disturbed.

That must be nerve wrecking ... I'm sending you good thoughts! kiss
malloryknoxx:
Urgh!! I hate it when friends go gray. That JUST happened to me last week as well - one of the SG's on my list that I adore just up and vanished.

And I'm sending you all the positive vibes I can muster - I'm sure you're going nuts waiting to hear news frown

Ohhh, nice kit ... is that finish you want?

Yeah, I'm not sure if he has ever been to Washington. I know they went on tour last year and went like 8000 miles, but I never heard any stories about Seattle. Odd, now that I think about it. I remember the last place they were before home was Reno ... doesn't necessarily mean anything though because I really do smoke too much pot to remember that much about what happens! It's not like this show is the end all/be all show of his life. It just happens to be one I'M going to and that makes it special. You know what happened yesterday? The other guitar player IM'ed me to invite me to the show ... didn't know if Steve told me or not. So I tell him, oh yeah, I've been promoting it all week on the SG website. First he's all like ... thanks, Sue!

Then he asks if he can use my account to look at naked chicks! wink

My son, btw, was not amused. "I cannot believe he asked you that!"

Okay, now the only headache I have is my boss.

Here is a brief synopsis of weekend.

Fri- Go to bar where guitarist friend is playing his last show with his band. He is an extremely talented guitarist. I keep expecting him to be discovered by someone and hired to be big time. I would like to have in my future project. It's all about...

A special gig for me tonight. Some of you might have heard about INXS reforming. A guy who has a private audition tomorow with them sang for us tonight. Talk about a showman. It was amazing to have him up front and the crowd really loved it.

As for me I have the worst fucking headache I have ever had.

Wow - sunny in Seattle? Now THAT is impressive biggrin
suzy_kabloozy:
Yeah, I do get carded more often than you would suspect. And then they ask for my secret, which I am only too happy to share: Immaturity!

7 is such a cute age though ... my youngest just turned 6. See, that is the greater insanity than me being a grandma. I have kids about 20 years apart! I will *never* get them all out of the house! eeek

So I talked about my music career taking a turn for the better... I signed papers today that basically say I am committed to this project. It is not done because the deal has to be signed on the other end, (read as MONEY). Of course that person could still look at the paper and crumple it up and file it............(edited to add, Hiccup no...

Hehehehe ... poor baby, two more days, you can make it!

Wow, I love musical equipment. I am getting hot just reading your post.

My brother is actually a very good guitar player. He used to play with all those little high school type bands when we were young, and then he became a professional roadie for years ... traveling the US and once even to Finland. Apparently Finland worked out really well for him. He still had really long hair at that point, looking a whole lot like Marc Bolan, Jimmy Page or Slash, depending on your age. And all the non-English speaking blonde/blue women found him fascinating. He said that sometimes they would follow him in the streets or just touch his hair. Obviously ... he liked that.

But then ... he got married ... the psycho wife was jealous, blah, blah ... and now that he is divorced, gets to play again, but the gigs are of the smoke-filled beer bar variety at this point.

We just sold a really nice DW kit ... Champagne Sparkle Collector Series finish ... they had been played for about 15 minutes and then the guy was bored. Forget who they used to belong to, but celebrity-owned equipment usually has stories like that. Some people just have too much money. I hope you become one of them! This kit did not go up on eBay, though. Too hard to ship.

Have a great Friday! kiss
