Well... what can be said? A not entirely unexpected outcome, but one I've lost interest in. I wouldn't have minded if the Eagles had pulled out some fourth quarter magic. They gave it a good try.

I hope you don't mind that I put a picture of you in my journal..... ???

I'm not being dismissive-your opinion is as valid as anyone else's-but on this point we are going to be in disagreement.
what you might want to ask yourself is this-why does Oldsarge
a Vietnam veteran and a LAWYER, have an almost visceral reaction to this guy [Kerry}? When I came back in 1968, I left NY and moved to Ohio to go to Ohio University, graduating in 1971. I honestly thought in 1970, that we'd have a second Civil War in the U.S.-bad times.
Now, it's your turn.

GW state of the union. Not a bad speech. Good on the 350 mil for Palestinian gov. that is good. And we have had four good elections this year.

Yeah, labels are lame. I just believe what I believe, except with third wave femiism. I endorse it because it encourages people to decide things for themselves. Informed opinions, if you will.
I will try and do that.

No way I'd send the finished product over the border anymore.
Not by any means.

Zell Miller was chief of staff for the rabidly bigoted Lester Maddox when he was Georgia governor, and once condemned LBJ for his role in getting the Civil Rights Act passed, saying that he was "selling his Southern heritage for a mess of dark pottage." That, and his recent association with the party of race-baiters and former Dixiecrats, is what led me to call him racist. A lot of it is guilt by association, which is probably unfair, but then I don't think he's earned the benefit of the doubt.
And yes, he is definitely, as you said, "misguided." That's putting it mildly.

Yeah, duels would be nice. Or a "Hell in a Cell" Match.
I took a history class on the 1960's a while back, and was amazed to learn what a really effective president LBJ was during the first part of his tenure. Vietnam really did derail things for him, although the race riots also hampered him and his agenda too. I also had my opinion of JFK taken down a few notches - Kennedy gets a lot of credit for things that would have probably never happened were it not for LBJ, like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Kennedy's real value is in the mystique that grew around him after he was assassinated - his symbolic value. As a leader he was surprisingly ineffective given the popular view of him.
As for Zig-Zag Zell, he's not fit to walk in the shadow of either of them.

Grapefruit for breakfast at 2:06pm. mmmmm frankenstien noises. "Oh sweet mystery of life at last I've found you."
I put a sharpie mark on an uncomplete painting last night. It might add something to it. I don't know.

I have her "Sluts and Godesses Workshop." It's really campy and fun, I like it a lot.
Few really understand irony. They just smile and nod.
KG?
Grapefruit will be my birthday cake on Friday. My fast is down to fruits and veggies, and I understand that broiling grapefruit camelizes the sugar, making it extra tasty, and comparatively more cake-like I suppose.
One Sharpie mark? It must be lonely.
I am so that guy in one of my majors. They hate me. I don't care. They never answer the questions, because they don't know the answers. When I don't answer, it stays quiet until the prof asks again, then I answer. Lame.
I would imagine the cat's situation would be improved by a water dish, yes.
Yay Annie!

edit : I fogot about the Iraqi elections. Congradulations Iraqis! The first multi party elections in more than fifty years! I wish more Sunnis had gone but then again I wish more Americans had voted. Myself included. Greene County had a ballot for me but not Buncombe, the county which brought you bunkum.

On the matter of Hemmingway, be careful not to confuse a character with the author. Hemmingway was a man who liked his drink, he would get up a six am and write until about noon at which the drinking would begin, hes been quoted as saying that his preferred method of writing was while somewhat hung-over, not something I encourage or even find to be true for myself personally, but it seemed to work for him.
The book King doesnt remember writing is Cujo.
And appreciate your words; Ive had my battles with excess, though for me it was weed, which I always found far more inspiring/enjoyable that booze. I was stoned all the time when I was younger, until I found the constant haze counterproductive. Nowadays I only smoke a few times a year, and find much more of an inspiration than when I was doing it all the time.

I agree that Hemingway seemed lost in some ways; its no coincidence that Hemingway is considered the leader of the Lost Generation. No doubt Hemingway had issues, (who doesnt) the physical and mental scars of World War I certainly amongst them. Interestingly another of last centuries premier writers J.R.R. Tolkien also carried the scars of WWI and though he wore them much differently, it also heavily influenced his writing.
As to whether, Hemingway thoughts on drinking and writing was some misplaced male bravado on his part, quite possibly, but were entering well into a realm of suspicion on that point. To which I dont enough facts to venture a guess.
Anyway let join you in a hearty good luck to the both of us.

I just learned how to play the harmonica. I think it was version of tukey in the straw. rocking out riffing and improvising. lost it. but I'm learning where the notes are. I''m learing tricks about composition and note bending. I'm pretty excited but it is wierd to lose it so fast.

Agreed. Though the Kurdish question remains, which is why I felt I had to qualify it a little. (Bear in mind, I'm Welsh and Irish.)
That, and an active defence against the old "German Democratic Republic" sneer; that just because a nation calls itself democratic doesn't mean it is.

I don't overlook that. But it's a century ago, the perpetrators are long dead and the nature of the Turkish political system has changed radically since then. A bit like blaming modern Germany for the extermination of the Herero - not productive, so long as it's acknowledged as having happened. (Or, for that matter, the British/Australian extermination of the Tasmanian natives.)
And, I am uneasy at the tendency of the military to interfere in Turkish politics, but it seems to be working, by which I mean producing a secular democracy, which in a Muslim nation is a good and quite unusual thing.
