Well, it is past 7:10AM (my departure time) on Friday the 4th, and I am very obviously not on the plane. The assault by the nasty hamburger continues, but it was actually as much a blessing as a curse.

The engine I was going up there to get might fall through with this last minute change, but I was able to change my plane tickets,...

OK, I'm officially fucked.

My asshole brother said he'd be able to help me out tonight, yet isn't answering his fucking phone. If I can't get a hold of him tonight two very bad things will happen:

1) A stranger he does not know will show up at his house, unannounced, to drop off my engine (which he isn't expecting).

2) I will be out eight hundred dollars and a very bad ass engine I've been lusting after for five years.

I could kill this asshole. He never answers his fucking phone, especially when he promises that he will!

mad mad mad mad mad mad mad

Just my luck I suddenly feel half dead. I have that hot stomach feeling that proceeds massive amounts of vomiting, and I have to be at the airport in six hours. I seriously feel like I might miss this damn flight. All that money and preparation lost, not to mention my fucking engine, because I decided to go the "safe and easy" route for dinner...

So I'm going to Seattle tomorrow afternoon. Have to leave San Antonio International Airport at 7:10AM, which means I have to wake up around 5:30AM if I want to sneak in a shower...well...six and a half hours from now. I've flown on less sleep. At least I'll have the benefit of being dropped off at my oldest brother's house around 1:00PM, and am not expecting...

Oh, and this one's for you KreatinKaos, I just found out that the Caddy 500 DOES fit in a 78-83 Malibu, and that in fact it fits with only the smallest mods (frame notch and modified aftermarket crossmember). In fact, I found a couple guys that have done it with stock driveshafts! eeek That's fifteen hundred dollars I wouldn't have to spend on a driveshaft (naturally if I get one made it's going to be a bad ass expensive one). Not sure on the power accessories, though, but will find out in good time.

Just imagine: a 3200lbs Malibu with 512 inches of bored out big block and 500+hp/650+ ft-lbs on pump gas. Gotta love it. The guys who I found that did this were running mid-13 at the track on street tires and the wrong gearing (for some insane reason a Caddy BB will run a higher ET with 3.08s then it will with 3.42s, and some pro drag racers even run 2.73s at the track on slicks). I bet with a built tranny, slicks, and the right gearing I could post low-12s, high-11s. On a pump gas motor. Just imagine the nitrous possibilities (hell 10s! biggrin ). Shit, 12s are scary fast in a daily driver - most people that think they can handle that really can't.

Course if I build that car you know I'd have to marry a woman that owned a tire shop, or my bank account would be perpetually empty! biggrin Just the kind of problem I actually WANT!
kreatinkaos:
The guys are using the 2.73 rear end with an automatic trans equiped with a 4500RPM stall speed torque converter , this setup minimizes wheelspin off the line with street tires and the torque converter is constantly multiplying torque , this is how John Lingenfelter builds his newer 10 second vettes , he uses a 3.08 rear end and an electronic torque converter that only locks up in top gear . I don't know what mods will have to be done to the aftermarket crossmember , but I believe the frame notch is for exhaust clearance biggrin

Regarding my last journal entry, despite overwhelming opposition, I really like the Malibu. They're cheaper, lighter, easier to come by in great shape (lot of church cars and grocery getters to be found). Plus I like their lines when done right. The problem with the Monte is everyone and their mother has one AND if I had one, I'd have to go crazy with some...

The Malibu would look cool with 17" rally rims , but that monster caddy motor is going to make the front real heavy causing wicked understeer no matter what you do with the suspension , and you will need to install minitubs in the back or the widest tire you will be able to install is a 275 / 60 R15 biggrin

Why the fuck can't I sleep? I slept four hours (and it was broken because, as always, my cell phone started ringing every ten minutes from nine in the morning on) in the last two days and still I am not asleep. I'm tired. So tired I don't trust myself to drive much further then the gas station, but here I am awake and typing...

Quick update.

Just got my truck back from the warranty checkup. I am appalled! They told me it would be ready at 3:30PM and I'll be damned if it wasn't ready at 3:30PM! What the hell's wrong with these people, getting me my truck when they say they would! This is a huge dealer and they actually keep their word! Pfft!

wink

Seriously, Fiesta Dodge is...

Luckily I make them nervous , so they stay away from me biggrin

WOW .... you guys sure get fucked on the price for that Z-MAX shit down there , it sells for $30 at the local wallmart up here eeek

You should use Marvel Mystery Oil to flush the motor , remove the spark plugs and fill the oil pan with it and turn the starter for several 15 second intervals and then let the motor sit overnight , adding some to each cylinder will help remove deposits from the rings , in the morning turn the starter for several 15 second intervals again " you can also remove the distributor and use a drill to turn the oil pump " this will flush the motor and help to recondition the seals .

Use Redline Water Wetter in the radiator with staight water , the motor will run at least 20 degrees cooler biggrin

It's sitting three feet high in the garage for the winter , all of my digital photos are too high resolution to be uploaded to the site , they have a 150kb max file size limit , and some of my photos are 20mb even after being run through a scanner , I thing I can reduce the resolution on my new camcorder for a shitty garage shot or two , all of my weights are in the way and the lighting is poor , but I'll give it a shot

Took my truck in to get it's warranty inspection. Has it been 18,000 miles already? *shakes head, sheds single tear* They grow up so fast.

Am in surprisingly excellent mood, despite lack of sleep (got a whole four hours of broken sleep this morning! wha-hoo!). Spent a couple hours with the old man. Finally, after twenty-two years of nagging, he's decided to start dressing like...

Yeah, so I mentioned that I've been going through a lot of my old boxes searching for stuff and all, deciding what needs to get thrown and what to keep (note: have a decided lack of boxes!) and found a box of mostly empty CD cases. Guess how many empty UNDERTOW cases I have. Guess how many empty AENIMA cases I have.

Nope. Not even...

I've seen those malibu's with a corvette drivetrain swapped in , the headers are a tight fit with a smallblock , so you will need some custom exhaust fabrication to clear the front suspension with that monster caddy motor eeek
kreatinkaos:
Hey thanks , that caddy motor is real wide , kind of like a hemi , which is at least six inches wider than a bigblock chevy 454 , you might fit it in with log style hotrod exhaust manifolds like what Boyd Coddington uses on his cars . With that motor a little backpressure will be good cause they don't like to wind high anyways , it will make a killer sleeper for the streets biggrin
