Just back from Brighton where not only did I visit SGUK's former fearless leaders Nic and Traumatron but I engaged in a bit of CD and graphic novel shopping.

The CDs I mananged to get where:

Future of the Left - Curses

The Shangri-Las - Myrmidons of Melodrama

Johnny Cash - Love

Dr Who - OST

I picked up two graphic novels/comics/pretty pictures.

DMZ - On The Ground.

This is the first volume of the series and I've been meaning to pick it up for a while. It's an interesting premise and while I didn't think OH LORD BEST SERIES EVER, I imagine I'll pick up the second volume at some point.

2020 Visions.

This is by Jamie Delano who is one of thus terribly underrated writers who everyone will miss when he's gone. I haven't read it yet but it certain looks interesting.

I'm currently reading Jinx by Brian Michael Bendis. Like most of Bendis's work you'll either love it or hate it depending on what you think of his writing style and since this has Bendis doing the art as well it is [I[very Bendis but I am enjoying it, it's just not something I can read in one sitting. I still think Bendis's strongest work is his Daredevil run. Powers was great but I still feel it lost something after a while and I'm enjoying his Avengers work but it still suffers from cross-over mania.

I'm actually thinking of giving up single issues and switching over to trades full time. I just end up picking up stuff out of habit and not because I feel passionatly about it. Also I prefer the format of tpbs, they are easier to sort and look after and they look better on the book shelf biggrin. Not to mention the fact that I'll save a ton of money by just picking a trade a week. Also I've noticed that more and more writers are writing for the trade format and less for the monthly comic, issues that don't feel that satisfying after you've waited a month for them make a lot more sense pacing wise in a collection of six issues.

Till next time kiddies.
