I'm angry. I was angry yesterday and it hasn't gone away. It's to do with THAT set, I wasn't going to write anything about it but screw that, keep quiet on these things and the worse will always happen.
Can art be edgy? Yes but there is a huge difference between edgy art that makes you think and question yourself and your attitudes and the 10 year old kid at school who would shout CUNT because it was the most shocking word he knew and he wanted to get a reaction.
Saying you don't have to explain/justify yourself because your expressing yourself indicates to me that you don't have the intelligence to argue against anyone who calls you on your bullshit. Art is a mix of instinct and thought, even if you don't know entirely why you reached an end result you should always be able to say what you originally hoped to achieve. Also I could claim that going to the local park and waving my penis at old ladies is my form of artisitic expression but when the Police come I better have a damn good reason for it.
We all have a dark side to our sexuality and I've always believed you should express that because it makes it a lot more fun. So if you want to dress up as a SS officer in your bedroom and whip seven shades of shit out of your lover or you have a rape fantasy that you enact then by all means go for it, people are complex and have many different sides and we should never forget that. BUT putting a rape fantasy out on a site with groups like this leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. Also some of the comments left by members make me ashamed to be part of this site. Things like "I hope to have some candy if we meet" actually translates as "I HOPE I CAN DRUG AND RAPE YOU SOMETIME LOL.". In the end the sad fact of the truth is that many members don't have journals or pictures or take part in the community they're simply here for a wank, they won't think about any alleged artistic statement, they'll just see a girl who looks underaged being drugged and raped and that will make there small penises hard, it'll make it seem a little more acceptable.
I've told some dark jokes and my humor can be fairly bleak, but I'm certain no-one has ever masturbated to one of my comments.
The Ramones used nazi imagery, and though they where a great band they where also idiots.
Also when you release a set like this you taint all the SGs by association. I don't want my friends to be associated with NAZI CHILD RAPE PORN by idiots, it upsets me.
Yes art can cause debates but so do atrocities, it's important not to get the two mixed up.
