Social Sciences Suck Ass
I'm studying for a degree in psychology at the moment via the Open University & i thought, seeing as it's been around 8 years since i last studied for anything, i'd start with a general social science course for the first year to ease me back into the studying vibe.
I now know why this country is fucked & nothing ever gets sorted out. It's 'cos of these fucking social science pricks. All they seem to do is sit on the bastard fence all the time, which is all well & good when you just want analysis, but shit we need solutions to some real urgent stuff. But all that happens is someone will voice an opinion e.g. "we should be tougher on criminals, longer sentences, etc..." & then some devil's advocate-playing motherfucker pipes up & goes "oh but what about this, this & this. Evidence demonstrates it may not work, blah blah fucking blah".
Now don't get me wrong, i'm no conservative bell-end, in fact i border on being a bleeding heart liberal most of the time. I just think that some decisions need to be made about important stuff & that whatever is decided we should stick to. No solution is perfect, but these social scientists seem to think that society will function better if we try to appease everyone. From what i've seen & read, that just isn't possible.
Anyway, sorry my first journal entry is a bit of a rant but that's what i'm thinking today.
On a lighter note, i found out that Mo Mowlam died the other day! She may have been cool or whatever but i just love it when famous people snuff it.
