My labor, my love.
Spent the weekend with my beloved at the Sofitel out at O'Hare. It was bizzare as the hotel was totally dead. We saw no other guests. Additionally, as we wandered the streets looking for food and candy, we realized we could've been just about anywhere in America. The Le Bar at the Sofitel didn't fool me one bit.
Oh yeah. My Vespa is for sale!

Hey dude, you should join the SGChicago group. We've got a Bowling Night coming up soon. We can meet in person to duke it out over the worthwhileness of the NeoFuturists.
I had a delightful freelance gig this week as a "comp artist" or "Xacto-n-glue-user". It's been a long time since someone... wait, no... no one's ever really paid me to sit there, zone out, play with knives and inhale glue all day long. It was very peaceful.
In other news, the worst thing I've seen lately is some guy from the Backstreet Boys on Regis....

Boy-o-boy have I been busy. I don't even know what I've been doing. Oh yeah, on Sunday I drove up to Grand Rapids, MI to pick up some lovely chairs. My dear friend Dan drove us all the way there and back. Being the furniture geeks that we are, we had to stop at Herman Miller in the town of Zeeland, even though it...

Really? I was kind of entertained by Drinking and Writing. I don't always like the stuff they do, but I think their ideas are consistently interesting. But hey, de gustubus non disputandum est, or something like that.
So I've had a fun couple of days riding my resurrected scooter around in the fucking freezing cold, stopping for coffee every half hour or so.
Yesterday my day was spent in a tamale making marathon. Ten stright hours of pepper scraping, masa spreading and pork cooking for a family record of 20 dozen.
Only thing is, now I can't even bear the sight of...

Anyone wanna buy a Vespa just in time for winter!?
I just went and filled my scooter with gas and oil, and with only a few kicks it started right up after over a year of sitting.
The only trouble is that all the oil started leaking out the bottom! Upon a delicious gasoline siphoning experience, I removed the gas tank and discovered that it...

Last night I saw Massimo Vignelli speak at the MCA. I knew only of his work for Knoll, as well as some of his glass designs for Vennini.
So in addition to learning about so much more of his work, the one project he did that made me swoon was the of the NYC subway map and all of the signage graphics.
Yes. It's things...

get a chopper and fly over there. Land it around the back, then kill all the guards. Then get back in the chopper and fly him back to the hospital. If the chopper blew up, use the trashmaster that is there.
