I've been up all night doing research for an article on Alexander Girard I'm doing for Il Giaguaro magazine, when I came across this sexy ad and was reminded again that I was born too late.

don't worry, man. we can bring the modern back into this world of too many prefixes proceeding it.

Just saw Die Another Day. While the third act followed the usual Bond formula of actually getting boring by giving us too much action, the rest of the movie was great, and totally over the top. It's the best Pierce Brosnan one yet!

I am happy.

But seriously, we have to talk.

Is it just me or is this Emily the Strange stuff the most poseur crap ever?

Aside from not being funny, I can just picture some Highlights writer doing enough research to assemble something that she would describe as "edgy." It's as if she took Beetlejuice & Edward Gorey, left out the humor and the heart and gave Emily...

Just got back from the wine reception turned all night drinking marathon after seeing Eames Demitrios at the Arts Club.

Haven't had enough time to decide if he is totally the Julian Lennon of modern design.

As the keeper of the legacy of Charles and Ray Eames, he's got a lot on his shoulders but still came off perhaps a little over-sensitive and defensive.

I'm...

So it's been a hell of a week. Returned from Hungary and went through days of jet-lag. Found out that my former employer is trying to sabotage my relationship with another company by having their lawyer send nasty letters TO ME via the new companiy's FAX MACHINE (really lame).

On a positive note, my pal Jerome from St. Louis showed up in town and we...

NYC was wonderful as always.
The Modern Show was cool.
Flourant is still my favorite restaurant.
Stefan Hester is my new favorite photographer.
George Gilpin is the greatest pedestal builder around.
I traded a lamp for a photo of a girl picking her nose.

I liked the Stefan Hester photographs...

How do you feel about Kertesz?
Or Nan Goldin, one of my favorites...

Typique, but I like Irving Penn too...I actually went to see the Degas exhibit in chicago a couple years ago, it bored me, but there was an Irving Penn exhibit right next to it which I fell in love with...

I am fond of photography

that's strange...i know quite a few people who cry when seeing the dirty three. one of them described it as "feeling like they were in love but having no one to be in love with".

I just paid $1225 in parking tickets. Keeping in mind that this is half of what they should've cost ("amnesty" program), can anyone here beat it? If not, what do I win?

October is my favorite month. Rosy cheeks, favorite sweaters and coffee. Today I received word of not one, but two phenomenal possibilites for a career change. Then I discovered that my favorite living architect, Santiago Calatrava was in town to give a lecture at the Art Institue! But it was SOLD OUT! So I went down there anyway, prepared to prostitute myself like the groupie...

Whew. Thanks to everyone who came to Mike Toe's show on Friday. Here are a few photos.
http://www.themodernist.com/toe/toeshowphotos.html

It was a nice evening until I started suffering from host syndrome. That is, starting drinking way too early and then alienating guests by periodically smashing glasses because, "hey, this is my place and my glasses and I can smash 'em if I want."

The rest of...
