I’m just as tired of this crap as anyone else, but especially tired of the whiny excuses Christians come up with. Yeah, it’s his constitutional right to believe whatever he wants, but it’s also the right of a company to fire someone for inflammatory or potentially offensive opinions.
If you said similar things at your job, or your boss overheard you say things online or elsewhere, you’d probably be fired, too. When I worked at a retail media store I couldn’t wear anything that reflected personal taste or opinions because they didn’t want the company to accidentally be associated with them if some idiot customer didn’t like it. It doesn’t make it right, it’s just business politics.
A&E did not fire him because of his “Christian values”. This wasn’t some atheistic attack. But just read what he’s apparently said in another case in the article linked here.
I have friends who are butt hurt (pardon the pun) over this nonsense, and it just irritates me and makes me wonder why I’m even friends with them if they’re so naive and mindless as to defend this dickweed.
