the dude abides. it's good to know he's out there somewhere biggrin

just watched the big lebowski and made me realise what a great place the world is! every time i see that film i learn something new about how to live my life. the dudes philosophy is something everyone should learn about. truly the dude abides.

it also made me realise how little country western and swing music i own so i am going to have to correct this. gonna get start by getting a copy of the soundtrack, there are some classic tracks on there. Not really one for OST's but I think that one would be worthwhile having. Also I can recommend the soundtrack to 'The Virgin Suicides' which is written by Air.

It's wonderful, my monitor has decided to heal itself. It's not completely better but I would say somewhere near 95% of what it was. This stops me from getting a replacement one which is a bit gutting as i was looking forward to a nice new TFT so i may still head in that direction. christmas pressie or something.

Mmm doesn't billie holiday make your toes curl. i'm listening to her as i write this post. her voice is like silk and chocolate, it's so smooth, rich and sumptious that it wraps itself round you like little curls of smoke.

I'm so psyched!!! Half Life 2 in 10 days and counting!!! I have ordered it over steam so I can instantly play it the moment it is released as I already have all the game content on my computer. some people moan about steam but i think it's wonderful. example: i wanted to play the original Half Life but found i've lost my original version on CD. of course on steam i'm already registered as owning half life so (this is just after a clean install of my computer from the ground up) i download and install steam, login with my steam account and then download the whole of half life 1 and install it from the web in 40 minutes from start to finish. now that's quality.

gertrude stein might be a new hero for me. reading about her life and how her writing developed i just have to give her mad props' for such remarkable tenacity and dedication to choosing her own way. going to read three lives now, very much looking forward to that.

nearly finished China Mieville's latest 'The Iron Council' and i've got to say i'm thoroughly enjoying it! Mievilles style was something that took me a long time to adjust to when I first read Perdido Station. I didn't actually enjoy it until I reflected afterwards on what I had read. I then reread it and enjoyed it much more. The Scar was not quite as good (witnessed by my not remembering what it is about although i believe it has something to do with the cacotopic stain???) but still a fine read.
Now all I need to do is get Stephenson's latest in the Quicksilver arc and Ian M Banks new novel. then I shall be totally happy. also i apparently missed out on one of pratchetts new discworld books as i have just read Going Postal but have not read The Monstrous Regiment!!! Hurrah for not having read it, now I have to!!!

it would be nice if there was some little xml app that allowed you to write posts for your journal so you could create drafts before publishing the final piece. I just had the idea of just writing them using my email client and sending them to the secret address you use to send pictures from your picture phone. it works to a degree but it wraps text in strange places.

ah well back to the drawing board smile

all friends applications accepted unless you happen to be Shub-Niggurath, The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young. just bugger off i don't like eon old betentacled things who come and go without a please and thank you. no-ones impressed.
snowballinhell:
ah, well I'm not a Wiltshireonian or whatever you'd like to call them, I'm Hertfordshire born and bred and have only lived in these 'ere parts for 10 years now me dear wink

I usually have my piercings done here in Swindon at Blue Banana, cool guy that does them, very well pierced himself and I totally trust the dude, but thanks for the recommendation if I'm ever in Bristol and want another one, I'll be sure to look him up biggrin
