Okay, the pool is clear... we shocked it one last time and clarified it. The bad news is, the filter stopped working!!!! ARGH! 
Also... my cat Butch, the black one from my pics, is having an eye problem. His left pupil is fully dilated and doesn't respond to light. He's also been lethargic lately. More than usual.
I took him to the vet just now, and they said they couldn't tell what was wrong with him. They said to wait a week and see if it "just goes away"... otherwise it could be a disease or a tumor.

that's just impossible to answer. i know it sounds like a cop out, but i used to ask the same thing to people who just struggled and stuggled to explain it and then when i finally had one, i realized that you just can't explain them in words.
