I'm sorry to hear about your friend. You shouldn't beat yourself up over it though. Mental illness is tough to deal with when it's your everyday, run of the mill, garden variety stuff. The kind of mental illness that helps make one homeless and refuse the offer of help is the kind most of us can't even fully comprehend. You tried. Sometimes the best we can do is hope for the best. Maybe he'll get better, do better, be better. I hope so.

Hmm, I was actually kind of hoping that you might want to come work where I do. It sounds like you love your new job as much as I do though, so I guess that won't be happening any time soon. Shame. I write snail mail style to my high school buddy who is in prison. It makes his letters seem more valuable then the friends I keep in touch with via internet and social media.

There is something to be said for a more thoughtful and meaningful dialogue to be found in a letter, a call, or even a personal one on one email.

That is one of the trade-offs. Spontaneous dreams are very rare. I end up "stepping in" when the dream starts going off track. Though lately I have been reorganizing and manipulating far more then before. Unconsciously looking for something. Just not sure what it is yet.
