I just found out that a childhood friend of mine passed away today. She was one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever known. We hadn't been in touch much lately but had recently reconnected on Facebook. Apparently she passed away in her sleep, unexpectedly, but likely of natural causes. She was a year younger than me. Earlier this year I lost a different childhood friend to Cancer. I thought I had at least another decade or two before I would start losing my childhood friends. I'm feeling my mortality tonight.

Last night I found out that a guy that lived down the street when I was growing up died. I didn't know him that well since he was a couple of years older, but it still doesn't sem right.
