I am a bundle of nerves. My beloved wife, Corey, is going in for surgery today to repair a herniated disc. They will have to undo her previous spinal fusion and then fuse the new vertebrae to the other two that were fused before. I know she needs it done. I know it will help with her pain, but I still hate it. I wish it was me instead. I've gone under the knife a few time myself and I know, that for me at least, it is far easier to go through it yourself than to be outside waiting while it is happening to someone you love.
