My band played a show with My Chemical Romance 2 years ago and nobody had ever heard of them, and they weren't even really that good. Not bad, but kind of sloppy. And their singer didn't look like a corpse, just a skinny emo kid with thick glasses. Now their posters are in every music store in America's windows and I just saw a Best Buy commercial featuring their 'new' (i.e. year old <_< ) cd.

i myself would be more than happy to scream my gibberish nonsense at groups of 15-20. forever... or, until i die in a hail of pocket change and boos.
