Just got a sneak listen to Dolores O'Riordan's new album, Are You Listening?

In a word... disappointed. I wrote off The Cranberries after Bury The Hatchet and actually cried when I got Wake Up And Smell The Coffee. As I thought more about it, it was the sound of the band, not Dolores that bothered me. I recalled how much I liked God Be With You, Ireland from The Devil's Own soundtrack, which was her first solo project. So I thought perhaps Dolores wasn't the problem, the guys were. I was wrong. Her new stuff sounds like cookie cutter euro alt. rock. It's bad when you can sing along with a song you've never heard before since the lyrics are so derivative. Isn't it funny how getting happy can ruin your sound? It's sad how no remnant of my one time favorite band (and what used to be the most amazing voice on the planet) can beat out my interest in Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails or even Gwen's Sweet Escape or even my interest in listening (I said listening!) to Fergie.

On the flip side, go pick up We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank by Modest Mouse. Or Norah Jones' Not Too Late. Thankfully, they haven't disappointed me yet.

You know how to tell when you're procrastinating? You actually sit down and change the icons of your writable media and give them all names of your favorite SGs (yep, I'm a geek and a perv). Check it:

I haven't used all my fave SGs so don't hate me yet. I do need a special name for my iPod (I named it what I did because Apple was calling all their products such things). And isn't Sybil the perfect name for a music player that randomly shifts from one song to another? I wanted to make my own icons to match the drives new names... but where we would view it as art boobies in an icon may upset some people. The Prudes!

Still looking for employment (I have employment but I'm tired of playing in the healthfield. I almost yearn for a cubicle, not having to deal with the public (and particularly the sick public). I can use a camera, Photoshop, oh, and I'm a published author. C'mon, I gotta be some good to somebody out there.

When did they change the pic folders to where eveything is added to the end? Anyways, posted some new photography.

that reminds me of when i wrote poetry. it was always sad and/or depressing. if i ever wrote anything when i was happy, it was just plain crap.
