Open my eyes to male discrimination...

Granted, I've only been in training for two days in the EKG department but I find it amazing that the OTHER person hired, a female, seems to get preferential treatment. And let it be known that her trainer seems to have taken a personal fancy to her, but since when did sexual harassment mean better training.

I train on first shift. I told my soon-to-be supervisor during my interview that I prefer nights due to bouts of insomnia. Those around me (family, friends) have said that probably everyone is trained on first shift, and I was let known that I must be trained on every shift. My trainer looked at the new schedule that was posted and noticed that I worked more days than the OTHER person, a female, which usually meant that I would be scheduled days when the job began. Also in casual conversation the OTHER new employee blurted out that she would love to work third shift. Our immediate supervisor went out of his way at that moment to go and inform the dept head that they had someone for when the third shift person leaves (which would be soon). Again, I told the dept head in my interview that I would prefer that due to my sleep habits.

Then there's the training itself. I've asked questions and most would respond with 'you'll know that soon enough.' Well, I think, tell me the fuck now so I can learn it. Meanwhile, the OTHER person hired has been shown all around the hospital, taught what codes mean what floor, sent here and there to help orient herself with the varying depts. That's on second shift; on first shift, if there is down time, I am made to stand around and waste time and then told not to do that, that I only get away with it because I'm new. I hadn't been given a password to do any of the paperwork (now only have one of the three I need) and whenever I ask how to do something I'm told to wait.

What. The. Fuck?

The OTHER employee, she just asks a question and everyone falls at her feet to answer

And I have to go through all of this shit just to work two days a week?! I wish I didn't need this job and wish I didn't need it to turn into a full time position. And this is a bridge I can't burn... the only place to work around here is in the hospital or for the state... and you know the state doesn't pay well (but look at those benefits).

Well, good thing NC now has a state lottery smile
Too bad I don't make enough to afford a ticket frown

thank you, good luck to you too!
