Two months from now is the 10th anniversary of me getting stabbed in the heart and very nearly killed and having open heart/ lung surgery and alla that so I am thinking of having a party where people show up like covered in fake blood and where Id only be serving food thats red and bloody and internal organ looking spaghetti, blood oranges, peeled red grapes, etc. Is that TOO WEIRD and in bad taste or what? Tell me I want to know.
What a treat to leave work at 4-something! Verrrrry little sleep last night I was working on the Mr. X tape until late but truth be told, partly I was up way way late because I was up looking at photos of my last girlfriend I unearthed my digital camera and all these things are stored in there from our trip to Austin LAST year havent used the thing since then. It didnt like have me totally eating my heart out or whatever, but it def. preoccupied me a lot, and I couldnt sleep.
Speaking of girls, tonight VERSUS is playing down at the Crocodile and I will need to take a nap soon to actually make the show. Fontaine Toups, bassist for said amazing tension-release-happy, smartly-worded, tightly coiled, indie-pop band-----man! Fontaine! Ive had a crush on her for 10 years; she is so RAWK. I get kinda silly around her.
I also need to somehow make a mix CD before I head out for my friend April she and her husband are moving to Idaho so tonight is her last night at the excellent VIVACE coffee shop, home to the finest coffee on all of the West Coast and I am not lying though of course I am unsubstantiatedly exaggerating -- but hey exaggerations my wont, my style, my schtick, my mtier, my lifes work, my party and Ill lie if I want to.
The new album by MANITOBA, Up In Flames, is really making me happy today gorgeous smooth fucked up smeared folktronica that sounds like everything good about summer and thats strange about falling in love mixed together and melted down into ten tracks of music that is always doing things you dont expect it to. This much-hyped band STYROFOAM on Morr Music is okay too though some of it sounds like fucking CSNY with beats and I am NOT down with that!!
