I met this guy last night who's in a very intense situation or says he is anyway -- I chose to believe him so I helped him out.
Mr. X is a conscientious objector about to become a deserter.
Right now I'm only home for a few minutes (inbetween work and two rock shows -- gonna see schneider tm and the my friend scott aka spiral stairs from pavement do a solo gig hope it does not suck) so this'll be my version of short.
this guy, Mr. X -- he was a marine from the late '70s until the mid '90s. his dad used to beat him all the time and in general taught him to be a marine -- his dad was a cop and marine -- so when Mr. X turned 17 he joined the marines -- he was exceptional as a soldier so they made him a sniper, a scout.
X fought in Granada, in Nicaragua, all them damn clandestine operations in South/ Central America, in Sarajevo, in the first Gulf War.
During the first Gulf War he witnessed other soldiers kill a woman then rape her dead body. He told the authorities about it later and testified against the others, and was about to be discharged when a colonel took him into his office when X was totally drunk and taunted him into assaulting him.
When X took the bait and lashed out, he was sentenced to 2 years at leavenworth, he lost all his marine pension $$, got a big red x on his record that fucks him up for ever getting a job, and etc.
Now he is about to get called back up for duty because of his expertise, and he's gonna go hide out.
Dig this: He says they're calling up 175.000 marines to go over to South Korea where there is a build-up for a war with the North. He has friends who've fled to Canada but the only way to do that is to purchase false identities which costs $$.
I must transcribe his tape where he tells his story as soon as I can -- then I'll try to get it published somewhere reputable or at least on the web somewhere.
As a recovering junkie I'm fully aware I might just have been conned but I really do not think so. He had so many details and -- I just do not think so. I gave him a couple hundrede bucks to go visit his daughter, but he never once asked for $$, ever.
It was really weird.
Shit I gotta run now or I'll miss the music. I am so amazingly ashamed to be an American after talking to this guy, the things we've done, it's sooo sick. His stories are -- fuck. So weird to hear all this stuff on tax day!
