OOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhh!!! I wish I was in New York so I could go to the big Adolf Wolfli (1864-1930) show at the folk art museum there. You know his stuff? Amazing amazing art he did it all while living in an asylum, Waldau, in Germany (same place my fave writer Robert Walser was interned for awhile too). Ive been to the museum of his work in...

Thanks for all the nice comments yesterday! Sex is a very good thing. I forgot to send the rent in today but otherwise it was pretty rad still basking in the afterglow of the hot sweaty Sunday, while wondering if I should call her again sooner rather than later. She did say she doesnt want a boyfriend and Im down with that I wouldnt mind...

You're friends with Sam Beam from Iron & Wine?? Okay, you have to introduce me to him or at least show him my lame-ass journal. I did say that Iron & Wine is one of the best albums of 2002, and that probably doesn't mean much to him because, you know, who am I, but he's a great songwriter, and his stuff kind of sounds like Will Oldham but BETTER. I like the new Will Oldham CD, too. "I See A Darkness" is still my favorite, though.
The radio show is It Came from the Garage. It's a sort of exploration of primitive rock and roll, hillbilly, psychobilly, surf music, and all thinks garage rock and/or punk.
Whee!
Y & T is still around. It's on Bird Road, and that's really kind of far away from my house. So I don't go there a lot, unless I'm heading over to A & M Comics by Miami Twice. I get a 15% discount because I'm a frequent customer and dork.
Most of the time I buy stuff from either Amazon, In Sound, or Virgin Megastore. I know that's not very cool (except In Sound, because that's neat), but... Virgin has stuff super cheap, right? $10 for some really nice CDs? I don't have much disposable income, you know. Also, it's right by UM.
I'm just being a huge dork right now.
Also, as for the Gospel fan stuff? I have "I Saw the Light" by Hank Williams stuck in my head, and that's not gospel, but it's a damn catchy tune about Jesus.

I grew up on gospel! Folk and gospel, what do you expect having a minister for a dad... even O brother had some really nice music in it to turn people on to the old scratchy, throaty songs of salvation. I think I like them because of their simplicity of message...not like some of the cryptic and gauzey lyrics that haunt the majority of my favorite music. I also have a soft spot for all the nice harmonies...
I GOT MY BONES TOTALLY JUMPED TONIGHT by a really hot chick who I don't even really know that well I'd only flirted with her a few times when out & about. This does not happen every day to me: I am 34 years old and I look it, a heavy-set guy these days (I wear it well but facts are facts), some of that...

Hey - We did use the slogan, "Bad Girls Like Good Contracts" during our pickets. Is that what they're referring to? Where did you hear that, anyway? Maybe it's because we're union and they're not? The management prefers them for it and gives them more luxuries because of it. I'm sorry, I've never heard that and am not sure who's saying it or what it means. It's not bad working at the LL in SF, thanks in part to those who organized the union.

A heavy set 34 year old?! I knew you were me all along...
I was looking for that other personality. You know...the one that reads.
I love your crush list...(and even..uh..went there with one)..but do you know who Jean Arthur is? You have to see this Wilder movie "A Foreign Affair!" She's sooooo hot!

Last night I saw an awesome program of silent films, 'The Silent Picture Show' -- Chaplin, B. Keaton, Felix the motherfucking Cat, (the original) Little Rascals & more -- all projected really big. It was this campily staged selection put together as a tour from the only silent cinema in the U.S.A., which is in L.A. The real star was the 90 year old organist,...

Well, the Pixies really signify a very specific time in my life and I will always love that band.
I do know The Creation....ANOTHER Shel Talmy production. Wes Anderson's use of MAKIN' TIME in RUSHMORE is just awesome.

i love seeing old men do amazing youthful things...then go back to being your grndpa. the composer George Crumb is that way. My composition professor David Sargent is that way. Composer and electronic music pioneer Robert Ashley is totally that way - he and I discussed the latest software and he actually knew what he was saying when he complimented me on my "sounds".

1--Did you have any cool aunts or uncles when you were a kid?
2--What's the last great show you saw?

4--Why are my posts always too long?
5--Are you a boxers person, or a briefs person?
OKAY

can you believe I still have not read that short story? I seriously suck lately. Well, I printed it out and then misplaced it. I have to print it out again. I do appreciate you sending it though.

Nothing too too bad -- though I got Bettina mad at me -- that's a bummer since she's been a pal for about 13 years & I'm gonna have to go out of my way to really make sure she's not mad at me since she's one of those hold a grudge people... Even flakey...

Yes!!! I managed to get the Califone track. Um, I've worked on about four dif versions so far. I do that and come back the next day to see what sticks. What day do you want this? Friday? Saturday? Sunday? Oh, Thursday?
Yeah, they sound like Mother Hips or something on this one haha. My roomie loves that band so i of course have to hate them.
Quite the mixed message on this chickie. But hey, who's perfect. I just think of what girls must say about me. Pro - He's a smart kid who is passionate beyond belief and will do anything for anyone. Con - He's a smart-ass kid who is passionate beyond belief and will do anything for anyone. Con - He can pplace faces of bit actors in tv commercials and spot them later when they make guest appearances on Gilmore Girls. Pro - He's got a cute ass....haha.
Ok, thanks again and It's coming along despite the comp crash. i just burnt a CD of it all (under a dif OS) *luckily* and have to use my desktop for the next week until Dell can fix my laptop
Ah, plays the cello...sigh...I had one once.

Ay yi yi. So I just returned from dinner and a talk, big talk, with Kristen, who I've been dating for 3 months now but no real sparks. She's real cute, smart, sensitive, cool, into great music and film and books and stuff -- but it just wasn't happening. All the right ingredients were there, and she REALLY likes me and my writing and etc.,...

Lost -- I've been thinking a lot about this word lately. I feel like I'm always lost, but moreover that I'm not happy unless I'm in some way or another really, fucking, totally, lost.

Being found is kinda fun. But nowhere near as fun as running and hiding again, diving under some new scheme or fantasy, and waiting to see if the same person finds you again.
And of course it's even better to be the finder.

I almost fell asleep at the Mission of Burma show. They were white hot but I was beat. That band Oxes was really frustrating. Have you heard them?
Planned on seeing Suicide tonight but took a long nap that made me wanna stay in.....it's like, REALLY cold and I spent the day in Baltimore. Beat.
Tomorrow...Rocket from the Tombs when I am in LA.

Did you snap out of your bad mood yet??
I love Nobukazu. Actually, for that genre, I have to admit, I'm pretty easy to please. It's all so sweet and unobtrusive.
Although Nurse With Wound is my all time favorite band (guy, whatever) Loveless by MBV is my favorite record ever recorded. I saw them at the Palace in Hollywood on the last night of the tour. Just before the show, I met them at an in store and loaded up on autographs, then hustled to the Palace for the best show I had ever seen. Yo La Tengo opened up, which was icing. MBV did their one chord "You Made My Realize" break for 35 minutes that night. At the end, I turned around and a full half the audience had left. Ha!! The security guards looked like they wanted to, literally, jump on stage and kill the band with their bare hands. It's funny how much rage you can kick up in people with a little noise.

obviously i didn't make it.
i got the 'dont want to leave the house blues' and wasn't feeling especially like venturing to a show on my own.
what a dork, i know.
i really do enjoy that music.. and its sort of new to me. i dont have a lot of "band" knowledge.. i've been a dance music girl pretty much my whole life. can i get that cd in stores? like local shops like other music? or bigger ones like virgin? it is something i would definitely like to explore some more.
thanks again.
