I almost broke down crying at work today after listening to 'Bird Stealing Bread' by Iron & Wine.

I know it's pretty much universal that when you hear a song that feels so personal and intimate it's almost like holding a mirror up to your own heart. So I need not go into the "why" of my tears, I just need this to go back out into the world.

Do his hands in your hair
Feel a lot like a thing
You believe in
Or a bit like a bird
Stealing bread
Our from under your nose

Tell me baby tell me
Do you carry the words
Around like a key or change
I've been thinking lately
Of a night on the stoop
And all that we wouldn't say

If I see you again
On the street, by the beach,
In the evening,
Will you fly like a bird
Stealing bread
Out from under my nose

I remember the first time I fell in love; that feeling of telling her 'I love you', and realizing that it wasn't enough... that in order to tell her that I loved her meant finding a new way to say it.

I also remember reading the last line of 'Somewhere I Have Never Traveled' by EE Cummings, and being overwhelmed... that there it was. He had found such a beautiful way to say I love you.

nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

That line:
Do his hands in your hair
feel a lot like a thing
You believe in?

makes me feel the same way... brings it all back.

Goodnight friends,

I know what you mean. There are songs that overwhelm me a lot too...its very bittersweet...
