It's been a crazy few weeks. In the last 25 days I have seen so many concerts.
21/09 - BARONESS - This was such an amazing show
29/09 - High on Fire - This was a little disappointing really. Opening bands were awesome, but Matt Pike was having some serious guitar/pedal/technical trouble and it took away from the show a bit.
30/09 - Poppy - I had a lot more fun at this show and the opening bands that expected.
05/10 - Municipal Waste & Cannibal Corpse - This one was cool because I finally got to meet the San Diego Metal Family and make friends with some local metal heads
09/10 - Fear Factory - This was fantastic. The new singer absolutely killed it.
10/10 - A bunch of local/SoCal bands(Runesaber, The Provoked, Asphyxia, Vexxum)
- This one was fun because I'm friends with some of the Runesaber members and got to hang out with them, then made friends with Adam, the lead singer of The Provoked. It was also the Pre-show for the San Diego Metal Swapmeet the next day
10/11 - San Diego Metal Swap meet. Bunch of bands but it was just too fucking hot to stand outside and watch them. Bunch of awesome vendors though. I got a really cool silver bird skull necklace and a freaking amazing big ass horned skull ring
- Sabbat(the SD goth club night) was that night as well, as well as a Metal DJ after party at Tower Bar, but I was just too burnt out by that point to go to either.
Damn glad there wasn't anything I wanted to go to Sunday.(The Addicts were playing and I was tempted to go just to say I did, but I was still too burnt out)
Friday, Up The Irons(Iron Maiden cover band) is playing, but it's out in Santee. I don't know if I want to deal with the rednecks and racists that tend to be out that way just to see a cover band.
I'm excited for this Saturday because there is a ZINE Festival happening in San Diego. Which reminds me, I had wanted to try and crank out some sort of simple zine, maybe print off 25 copies just to have something to trade. I just have no idea what to make a zine about.
Upcoming Concerts:
19/10 - Julien-K
- This should be fun. Formerly of the band ORGY, they'll be doing some Orgy songs as well as originals.
26/10 - Modernwave:Daybats
- This one should be interesting. It's basically just a daytime gothclub at a beach rooftop bar? idk. Should be fun and the advertisement basically looks like an old-school SG event. We'll see. Hopefully I can have fun. Hopefully I'm not too awkward and can actually make friends with someone rather than holding up a wall or holding down a table.
04/11 - Death to All w/ Gorguts
- This should be a fun show. I've only been to one Death to All show and it was a blast, and I've never seen(or really listened to) Gorguts, but I've got a friend who's a big fan.
23/11 - Metality Concert: Nukem, The Provoked, Mythraeum, Helsott, Brutalion, druids
- A bunch of local/smaller bands. I think this one is going to be fun. I love local band shows.
And I think for now that's my last concert of the year. I don't have anything on the calendar till the end of January, WHEN I GO ON THE
70000 TONS OF METAL CRUISE!!!!!!
I've never been and am extremely excited!
If anyone is going to be at any of the upcoming concerts I'm going to, or has some L.A./Anaheim/San Diego show recommendations, or are also going on the 70000tons of metal cruise, let me know and if you see me say hi!
