I remember
as a little boy
finding monsters in the clouds
I was a knight
in shining armor
and I cut them all down

but now I'm older
a man grown
and my monsters are all me
lay awake at night
my thoughts will wander
and in despair I fall down

oh how I long
for those
days of monsters
underneath my bed
instead I wallow
inside I fight
against the monsters in my head
all the shame
all the blame
sometimes I wish that I were dead

mommy
daddy
trains and tricycles
these were
my world
and now it's gone away
work
bills
lonely nights
this is
what remains
please let me go away

give me my sandbox
give me building blocks
give me a heaven
where pain never stalks
Give me those days
of child hood haze
where I felt love
in my parents gaze
